FormerDoctor Whovillain actor Sacha Dhawan wants to bring back his character to face off against Ncuti Gatwa’s incarnation.Doctor Whocontinued last year with a rebooted series that saw Gatwa play the Fifteenth Doctor. He was accompanied by Ruby Sunday, who was portrayed by Millie Gibson. Before that time,Dhawan appeared inDoctor Whoseason 12, playinga villain called The Master. The Master is a renegade Time Lord who has, throughout history, been an enemy and a friend to the Doctor.
Speaking withRadioTimes.com, Dhawan addressed whether he would ever return toDoctor Who. The actor started by joking, saying “Oh my god, I’m coming back!” but later honestlystated that he would “love to come back” if given the offer. The actor did tease that he “thinks there’s more to play with” for The Master. Check out the full quote below:

Oh my God, I’m coming back! I’m coming back! [I would] love to come back. There’s certain things I’ll read… I think Ncuti [Gatwa] has mentioned the Master at some point… I think there’s more to play with – and I get slightly envious seeing how much fun they’re having in Cardiff.
What This Could Mean For Doctor Who
The Master Is A Classic Doctor Who Character
As is the case with the titular Time Lord,The Master has gone through multiple iterationsthroughoutDoctor Who’s history. The first actor to play the character was Roger Delgado, who debuted the role in 1971.Doctor Who’s Masterwas later played by several other actors, including Michelle Gomez, who portrayed a female version in 15 episodes from 2014 to 2017. As such, it seems more likely that the sci-fi series might include another generation of the Master rather than simply have Dhawan reprise the role.
Doctor Who: The Master’s Best Outfits, Ranked
The costumes on Doctor Who are colorful and character-defining. Even main villain The Master has a cool wardrobe. Here are his most stylish looks.
The Master seems very likely to come back toDoctor Whobased on recent trends. The current erafocuses on bringing back the classics into the modern age. For instance, returning showrunner Russell T Davies brought back David Tennant to the Whoniverse to play a reincarnated Fourteenth Doctor and revived the Toymaker, a villain from the classic era, for one of the anniversary episodes. As such, it seems that sticking with the tradition of the Master would be in line with the currentDoctor Whosensibilities.

Our Take On Sacha Dhawan’s Possible Return
His Casting Represented A Doctor Who First
One reason why Dhawan would be more likely to return toDoctor Whocould be attributed to the show’s current casting goals. Dhawan was notably the first person of color to play the character. Likewise, Gatwa is the first Black Doctor, demonstrating how the show is committed to having a more diverse cast. As such, Davies and the rest of theDoctor Whoteam may be more apt to re-cast Dhawan to honor the momentous occasion of his original casting.
