Ever since its premiere in 2022, I have been in love withThe Bear, and the following five theories about season 4 are making the anticipation even greater. The Bearis a comedy dramacentered on Carmen, a professional chef who decides to take over his brother’s Chicago sub shop following his death.Over the course of three seasons, audiences have watched Carmy struggle to keep the restaurant afloat, all while he deals with his grief and past trauma. The Bearis known for its high stakes and intense nature, so its next season will have to reach these expectations.

Based onhowThe Bearseason 3 ended, we can make a few assumptions about what will happen in season 4. For example, the final episode ofThe Bearseason 3 saw the restaurant getting its official review in the Chicago Tribune, and in particular, Carmy having a bad reaction to it. The finale also highlights the fact that Syd has been offered a new position at a different restaurant, and might just take it. At the moment, the fate of The Bear is in serious flux, leading to many potential changes inThe Bearseason 4.

5The Bear Closes Temporarily

How The Bear’s Closing Will Be A Good Thing

One major theory going intoThe Bearseason 4is that the restaurant will close due to the restaurant’s lack of funds. At the end of season 3, Carmy not only sees the Chicago Tribune review, but also has a number of missed calls from Cicero and Computer. This implies that Cicero, unhappy with the review, is finally going to pull his fundingof The Bear. Plus, the calls from Computer show that, even if Cicero doesn’t pull out, the money simply isn’t there to keep the business going. Thus, Carmy will probably have to close The Bear temporarily.

Where The Bear Is Set (& Is The Beef A Real Restaurant?)

The Bear centers around a refined chef who unexpectedly has to run his family’s Italian beef sandwich restaurant. Where does the show take place?

Although this seems like a dire situation, I think closing The Bear would be something of a relief. Arguably, the happiest moments of the showhave been when Carmy and his crew are working together to get the restaurant up and running without the stress of customers. Furthermore, closing The Bear will allow Carmy time to reflect on his choices, which were particularly harsh in season 3. Finally, closing The Bear could also allow the sandwich window to thrive, forcing Carmy to realize that Chicago subs are just as beloved as high-quality fine dining.

4Syd Leaves The Restaurant (For Now)

Why Syd Has To Leave The Bear

An equally devastating event that may occur inThe Bearseason 4 isSydney taking up Adam Shapiro on his job offerand leaving The Bear. Syd and Carmy have always had a complex relationship, and season 3 saw it come to a head, as Carmy continued to ice Sydney out of important decisions. Because of this,Syd will likely quit The Bear and take on this new job. She may even bring Marcus with her, considering The Bear’s potential budget cuts. However, that is far from a guarantee that she will like the new job, or even stay there.

Working with Adam, Syd will probably get to do all the things she couldn’t at The Bear, but she may quickly realize that it isn’t as fulfilling as she hoped.

As much as it pains me,I think Sydney has to leave The Bear. From the start, she has been characterized as ambitious and Carmy has stifled this. Working with Adam, Syd will probably get to do all the things she couldn’t at The Bear, but she may quickly realize that it isn’t as fulfilling as she hoped. Presumably, her relationship with Adam won’t be as satisfying as what she has with Carmy, and she will see that The Bear may be difficult, but it is a place that she truly cares about, full of people she loves.

3The Restaurant Finds A New Investor

The Bear May Opt For A Plot Twist

OneThe Bearseason 4 plot point that initially seems boring, but will be weirdly exciting, is finding a new investor. If Cicero pulls out of The Bear in season 4, which seems likely,Carmy and Nat will have to seek out a new investor for the restaurant. This will have to be a person who they can trust and build a relationship with, but also someone who has plenty of money to spare. Already, we’ve seenthe troubles The Bear had with Cicero, so this will be an especially important and touchy job for someone to take on.

There are a few key options for who could be The Bear’s new investor. One positive choice would be Chef Andrea Terry. After closing Ever, Terry may still want her hands in the restaurant business without having to be right in the kitchen. However, based on her desire for personal fulfillment, this may be a long shot. Another spookier option could be Uncle Lee. Audiences have yet to see him in the present day, and he has personal ties to The Bear. Finally,Tiff’s new fiancée, Frank, could also be an option, seeing as he is rich.

2Carmy Reconciles With His Loved Ones (Including Claire)

Why Carmy Needs To Change His Ways

The Bearoffers up plenty of dire situations, but one of the messiest is Carmy and his relationships with others. InThe Bearseason 3, Carmy pretty much isolates himself from everyone, putting all his focus on the restaurant to a dangerous degree. He becomes slightly unbearable, which is part of why The Bear isn’t working. Because of this, season 4 will have to see Carmy facing up to his failures and reconciling with the people who matter most to him: Richie, Syd, Nat, Donna, Cicero, and most importantly, Claire.

The Bear’s Claire Backlash: Why Carmy’s Girlfriend Is So Divisive

Claire has proven a divisive character since being introduced in The Bear season 2, but why don’t viewers appreciate Carmy’s girlfriend?

Among all of these theories, this is probably the one that is most pressing. In order forThe Bearseason 4 to work,Carmy needs to come to terms with the problems that have been haunting him since the show’s start, including his grief for Michael and his fear of happiness.Carmy’s dismissal of Clairewas a particularly harsh moment for the main character, and he will need to apologize for his story to feel complete. If he wants The Bear to be a success, he will have to work on his own issues first.

1Carmy Finally Makes The Bear Work

Will The Bear Season 4 Be The Final Season?

Last but not least,a theory that I hope comes true inThe Bearseason 4 is that the restaurant finally succeeds. The Bearis not the type of show to fabricate happy endings, but it would be really disappointing if the restaurant failed completely. Despite all the obstacles in their way, The Bear’s staff is well-equipped and full of talent, so it shouldn’t really take that much to make everything work out. All they need is money and a few heart-to-hearts. Even a glimmer of hope at the end ofThe Bearseason 4 would be much appreciated.

Based on the release dates of previousThe Bearseasons,The Bearseason 4 will likely premiere in summer 2025.

Carmy gets stuck in the fridge in The Bear

Although rumors have flown around thatThe Bearseason 4 will be the last season, that has yet to be confirmed. Because of this, the above theories may be subject to change. IfThe Bearis going to end with season 4, then every storyline needs to achieve a satisfying if not happy ending. However, if there is more story to come, then some plots may be stretched out or complicated. Either way, I’m thrilled forThe Bearto return, and hopefully, the new season will offer up some moments of happiness in the midst of all the chaos.
