InOnce Human, players can farm to obtain crops used in cooking and crafting, especially recipes that buff or heal.Contaminated Cropsare the newest farming mechanic, allowing players to find contaminated versions of Berries, Wheat, and Aloe Vera in polluted areas. These crops can then be placed in Brewing Barrels to be distilled into Acid.
Contaminated Crops are relatively hard to come by. Theyspawn in limited areasandonly occasionally provide seeds. However, there are several methods to increase your yield and turn these crops into a viable Acid farm. Here is the best way to find and farm Contaminated Crops inOnce Human.
Finding Contaminated Crops
Best Location To Find Contaminated Berries, Aloe, & Wheat
Contaminated cropslook similar to their regular counterparts inOnce Human.However, instead of the normal coloration,they are a deep blue and magenta, making them stand out among the other vegetation. They can be found in most polluted areas, but I’ve found the most densely populated area to be inthe Northwest corner of Chalk Peak, around (-1274, -2471). Just spending a minute or two running around yielded me about 10 different variations of these crops.
This area is ahigher-tier areawith difficult enemies and a high pollution level. Bears in the area are around level 35 and have massive amounts of health, and the pollution level is around 120.Be prepared to fight or runif challenged by a bear, and I recommenddrinking a Malt or Corn Ale to eliminate sanity lossfrom the pollution.
When harvesting, these crops only have avery low chance of dropping seeds. It appears thatthey are not affected by the Gardening Gloves or Harvesting Sickleyet, which provide chances to double seeds or double yield respectively when harvesting wild crops. With enough farming, though, you should be able to find seeds eventually and can begin togrow these crops at home.

How To Grow Your Own At Home
Like most crops, Contaminated Crops can be grown from seeds in your territory. Unlike other crops, though, these seedsneed little to no light to grow, and will actually grow slower if there is too much light. I built a separate room from my garden to grow only contaminated crops, and they do fantastic. These crops do not have a chance to grow into deviated crops, but the contaminated crops harvested are similar in that theydo not spoil over time.
How To Find (& Produce) Fuel In Once Human
Fuel is a valuable resource in Once Human, used to not only power your vehicles, but also create strong weapons. Here is how to get it.
Just like other crops, you can use fertilizers to boost their production. Because their seeds are limited, I recommendusing the Breeding Boost Fertilizerto increase the seed yield until you have plenty. Then, you can use theYield Boost Fertilizerto increase the amount of crops harvested per rotation. Though slow growing, they will yield a high amount of Wheat, Berries, and Aloe to then convert to Acid.
Unfortunately, Corrupted Crops and Seedscannot be sold in vending machinesat this time,nor can they be traded. It is unknown if this will be a feature in the future, but for the time being, you’ll have to find and farm these crops on your own.
Converting Your Crops To Acid
A Slow But Worthwhile Process Using Brewing Barrels
Like other Acid production methods, you will need to build and use Brewing Barrels. Placing Corrupted Crops in these barrels yields Acid over time, though the process is slow. However,each different crop takes up a different slotin the brewing barrel, allowing you to craft multiple Acid at once, leading todoubling or tripling your outputcompared to only impure Acid.
Aloe
2 Crops = 1 Acid
Contaminated Wheat and Berries take 12 hours to grow under perfect circumstances.Although Aloe is listed as taking 12 hours to grow, it appears to actually take 24 hours, based on my own experience. This may be a bug fixed at a later time.
Growth time can be shortened by using the Growth Boost Fertilizer to reduce the time needed for the crops to be ready to harvest. However, I’ve found the most efficient method to be using the Yield Boost fertilizer instead, allowing you to harvest even more without having to remember to visit and replant your crops.
Though the growth rate may seem inefficient at first,the rate of conversion from crop to Acid is also quite slow. By the time yourBrewing Barrelsare out of crops,the crops should be ready to harvestagain, keeping a rolling, constant production of Acid.
There are many different methods to farm for Acid inOnce Human, ranging from fighting deviants to using water pumps and barrels, and even memetic specializations. This new method of “farming” is highly optimized for true “farmers” who focus their time on crop production and yield. With enough time and effort, anyone can have a thriving Acid farm ready to go using contaminated crops. Happy farming!
