Siloshowrunner Graham Yost explains how season 2 is deviating from Hugh Howey’s source material. Premiering in 2023, the hit Apple TV+ sci-fi series stars Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette, an engineer attempting to uncover the truth about the underground silo in which she and others live after the surface world becomes uninhabitable. Season 1 was met with strong viewership and reviews, andSiloseason 2is now set to release later this year, continuing Juliette’s story after she sets foot on the surface.
In a recent interview withTVLine, Yost reveals more information aboutSiloseason 2, teasing that audiences can expect from changes from Howey’s novel. Though the latter half of the novel is almost entirely about Juliette and her journey outside the titular structure,Yost confirms that season 2 will be “a little more 50-50” in terms of the balance between the action inside and outside the silo. He also reveals that season 2, episode 1, will focus only on Juliette while episode 2 will take place entirely inside Silo 18, her old home.

There are three books in Howey’sSiloseries, withWoolbeing the first. Season 1 of the show adapted only the first half ofWool.
Graham Yost’s Update Is Good News For Silo Season 2
Balance Will Be A Good Thing For The Apple TV+ Show
Juliette is unquestionably the maincharacter inSilo, and it’s her journey that compelled audiences in season 1 and will hopefully continue to do so in season 2. While the show’s sophomore outing is set to feature some major leaps forward for Juliette’s story as she uncovers more about the world, there are still a host of other characters to keep up with. Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and Robert Sims (Common), for example, were nefarious but interesting figures introduced in season 1, and their roles in the show are far from over.
Yost has previously teased that a majorstoryline inSiloseason 2will be the brewing revolution within Silo 18. After Juliette walked on the surface world and disappeared over the top of the hill in theSiloseason 1 finale, there’s understandably been growing discontent within the silo as more people question what information about the surface is being kept from them. The showrunner also previously revealed that Juliette will discover the decaying remains of another silo’s inhabitants who died on the surface after revolting and going outside.

Silo Season 2 Is Avoiding A Release Issue That Is Hurting Another Apple TV+ Show
Silo season 2’s release schedule could not have been more perfect as it allows the series to avoid an issue that is hurting another Apple TV+ show.
Inseason 2, then, the fate of everyone in Silo 18 hangs in the balance, as a revolution would doom them all. While it could be frustrating to leave Juliette’s story to return to her old home, the underground storyline has the potential to be just as exciting and intense. It remains to be seen whether this 50/50 balance will work inSiloseason 2’s favor, but the Apple TV+ series is evidently going to feel a little different when it returns this fall.
