While many assumed Avalanche Software was done withHogwarts Legacy, the studio may still have more up its sleeve. Despite its massive success in 2023, the Wizarding World RPG managed to disappoint some fans with its lackluster post-launch support. While the game is designed to be a single-player experience that wasn’t built around continuous content updates, players were hoping for additional gameplay featuresthat may not have been ready to ship with the launch version ofHogwarts Legacy.

Fortunately, there may be more on the way as a recent report fromBloombergclaims thatAvalanche Software is “now working on new content for Hogwarts Legacy.“What will be included in these supposed updates remains to be seen; it’s worth bearing in mind that until Avalanche or Warner Bros. Games confirms the report, it should be taken with a grain of salt. The news of additional content patches comes shortly after the confirmation thata sequel toHogwarts Legacyis in the early stages of development, although information on this project is still scarce.

The RPG Cast A Spell On The World

It’s no surprise that Warner Bros. wants aHogwarts Legacysequel as the publisher desperately needs another success. While the Wizarding World RPG proved itself by being the best-selling game of 2023,Warner Bros. followed it up with a series of disappointing releasesincludingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueandHarry Potter: Quidditch Champions; it also recently announcedthe termination ofMultiVersus. With such a rocky year, it’s clear that Warner Bros. Games needs another smash hit.

Warner Bros. Games' recent struggles could also be the reason Avalanche is returning toHogwarts Legacy. Adding more content to the game while the sequel gestates would be an excellent way to retain the player base, ensuring that fans are primed for the next adventure. Since the sequel is likely still at least a couple of years away, the community will undoubtedly enjoyreturning toHogwarts Legacyfor some fresh adventures.

But What Will It Look Like?

WhileHogwarts Legacyis already filled with content,I couldn’t help but feel that various parts of the game felt unfinished. I’d love NPCs to have actual schedules tomake the world feel more immersiveand I think the overall story could be improved if theending was tweakedto be less abrupt. Even if more content updates aren’t planned, I have to hope that the sequel is at least able to learn from the community’s feedback and fix some of the lingering issues.
