Amir Talai, who plays the always-smiling Alastor inHazbin Hotel, has a theory about season 2’s release window. Originally started as a 2019 animated pilot of the same name by Vivienne Medrano, the breakout YouTube hit was picked up by A24 before finding a home. Prime Video came abroad and ordered two seasons of the adult animated show. FollowingHazbin Hotelseason 1’s releasein January 2024, the show has been renewed for seasons 3 and 4.
The series focuses on Lucifer’s daughter, Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), asshe opens up a hotel in Hell to reform sinners and get them to Heaven, with help from the powerful demon Alastor. However, she faces opposition from Adam (Alex Brightman), leader of an extermination group who flies down to Hell once a year to purge it of souls to avoid overpopulation. The animated musical comedy alsoshares a universe withHelluva Boss, a series produced by Medrano’s Spindlehorse Toons, which also has plans through season 4.

The Actor Has Predicted A Time Frame
Now, Talai has shared his prediction as to whenHazbin Hotelwill return, believing the series could come back some time in 2025. While there’s been no confirmation from Medrano about when the show will return,it was revealed in August 2024 that Italian studioDogHead Animation would be involved in the season 2’s production. Since then, thecast ofHazbin Hotelhasn’t revealed the speed at which the new season is being produced, making it unclear when the show will actually come back with more episodes.
All 8 Clues To Alastor’s Past In Hazbin Hotel Season 1
Alastor, aka the Radio Demon, is the most mysterious character in Hazbin Hotel; there are many clues about his past scattered throughout season 1.
While talking toThe Direct,Hazbin Hotel’s Alastor star shares his thoughts on when season 2 will arrive. The star refers to Medrano’s update last year about the new season taking at least a year, sharing thatMay 2025 is “the absolute earliest,“and he expects the new season to come out between May and October. Check out what he said below:

So [Vivienne Medrano] in a podcast last May said at least a year. That was last May. So May of this year is the absolute earliest. When I hear someone say at least a year I certainly don’t think 366 days, so I would go, I don’t know, a year and a half? Two years? Something like that.
So my thinking is somewhere between like October and May. That’s my guess, but we have no idea, I’m just basing that on what Viv said in a podcast eight months ago.

What This Means For Hazbin Hotel’s Season 2 Release Window
Hazbin Hotel Season 2 Production Is Still On Track
Season 1 began development in August 2020 with an initial release projected for the summer of 2023 before the writers and actors strikes pushed the date further into 2024. This places thehighly ratedHazbin Hotelseason 1’s development release time attwo years and eight monthswithout counting the strikes. In February 2024, Medrano shared that season 1 took “about one-and-a-half [or] two years,” and she expected production for season 2 would be similar.
Hazbin Hotel’s Controversial Season 1 Group Recasting Explained
Hazbin Hotel season 1 saw a group recasting 5 years after the YouTube pilot, but Vivziepop’s reasoning for the overhaul makes perfect sense.
Season 2 kicked off production in January 2024. Talai’s comment aligns with the previous production updates. Last June, Henningsen revealed that production was “pretty far” along, confirming she’d be returning as Charlie alongside otherfan-favoriteHazbin Hotelcharacters. While season 2 has yet to receive a date, it sounds likethe new season is very much on track, and more information could be coming in the next couple of months.

Our Take On Hazbin Hotel Season 2’s Release Window
It’s Very Likely To Return This Year
The lack of a confirmed date may not be a bad sign. The renewal of seasons 3 and 4 at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con ahead of season 2’s release indicates the faith Prime Video has in the new season’s reception. Not having a date could simply mean that those working on the series are putting quality first until they can confidently put out a release date rather than letting it be a deadline, and givenHazbin Hotelseason 2’s plotincludes grander storylines and a lot more action, it makes sense thatproduction could take a bit longer.
October would also be a fitting time for it to return, with a release in the same month as Halloween fitting given it takes place primarily in Hell.
It’s also important to note thatHazbin Hotelseason 2is still in the production stage, and how soon fans can watch the new episodes will be determined by how long production and post-production will take.May 2025 seems a bit unlikely, though there’s still a chance for the animated series to return before the end of the year. October would also be a fitting time for it to return, with a release in the same month as Halloween fitting given it takes place primarily in Hell. But it might be quite some time before anything concrete gets confirmed.
What’s Next For The Hazbin Hotel Universe?
Season 2 Is Just One Project In Production
As season 2 continues its production, its expanded universe is also still going strong.Newepisodes ofHelluva Bossare currently being produced, with season 3 expected to have 15 episodes. As a YouTube series, however, the spinoff’s release schedule is more fluid, meaning episodes won’t be dropping weekly like they will onceHazbin Hotelis ready for release. There’s also no word on whether both series will have deeper crossover elements, despite Medrano expressing interest in the idea.
BecauseHazbin HotelandHelluva Bossare owned by different studios, it’s more difficult for the shows to cross over despite taking place in the same universe.
The future of Hell is looking bright, with Talai’s prediction being a possible reality based on the timeline Medrano gave when season 1 first came out. Without a trailer forHazbin Hotelseason 2 yet, though,it seems more likely new episodes will come out in late 2025if it really is slated to come out this year. With the Prime Video series andHelluva Bosscontinuing production, plenty of new stories across Pentagram City and the Rings of Hell are promised, no matter when they arrive.
