New Netflix Gundam Anime Reframes The World’s Most Iconic Mechs With One Change, Make Them Terrifying
Netflix reimagines the iconic Gundam mecha in new series Requiem for Vengeance, premiering worldwide on August 01, 2025.
Gameplay for theGundam Card Gameinvolves building a 50-card deck made up of cards of up to two different colors. Similar to theOne Piececard game, players also have a separate resource deck that players draw from and add to a recurring resource pool every round. Every card has a resource cost and a level. Players have to spend resources to put a card into play, but they can’t play the card until they have resources in their pool equal to or greater than a card’s level. For example, a Level 4 card might have a cost of 2, but players can’t put it into play until they have four or more resources in play.

Bandai also announced that players can use theGundam Assembleminiatures as tokens in the game, with minis able to be placed on cards as they’re played. There’s no mechanical benefit to doing so, but it’s clear that Bandai plans to cross-promote the two games. Confirmed minis for the starter decks include the RX-78-2Gundammini forHeroic Beginnings, the OZ-00MS Tallgeese forWings of Advance, an MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type forZeon’s Rush, and the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam forSeed Strike.
Our Take: Gundam TCG Could Be The Next Big Card Game
Gundam Franchise Is A Sleeping Giant And This Game Could Be Huge
The newGundam Card Gamecould be the sleeper hit of 2025. The Gundam franchise is huge, not only because of the anime series but also because of the massive popularity of Gunpla figures. However, there are not a lot of other ways forGundamfans to show off their love of the franchise, which is why I think that both games will take off.
As long as Bandai makes enough products for fans to jump into the game (something that it struggled with when releasing theOne Piece Card Game), I expect both theGundam Card GameandGundam Assembleto be huge at tabletop stores across the country.
