TheMonster Hunter Wilds1.010 patch was a pretty significant update. A bunch ofhighly requested and needed features arrived, like a social hub (similar to the ones inMonster Hunter World)and new quests, but one balance change severely affects those who haven’t platinumed the game yet: Capcom made the Rest option more expensive.
Resting is key for solo crown hunting, and with this change, players mustuse cooperative methods to complete the 52 crown set. At launch, crown hunting was far easier than any otherMonster Hunterdue to the trusty binoculars spotting crown sizes, and while that’s still true, doing it all solo is just not viable anymore. Players who like to go solo are a decent chunk of the playerbase, and for those who’ve yet to get the platinum, it’s time to get out of their comfort zone.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Solo Crown Hunting Process Pre-Patch
Sure It’s Inconsistent, But It’s Doable
For those going solo, crown hunting at launch worked like this: a player looked through all areas of the game, looking at each monster through the binoculars to spot miniature or gold crowns. As one completes more and more of the set, it’s best to use the Rest option, a featuremost players don’t take advantage of, to move time forward. Moving fromdaytime to nighttime or vice versa would reset the environment, spawning new monsters. Resting was pretty cheap at 300 guild points.
How To Re-Hunt Zoh Shia After Finishing Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update
Zoh Shia is another strange monster encounter in MH Wilds, requiring a lot more effort to hunt outside of getting lucky with SOS quests.
The option was practically required to complete the 52 crown set, especially those uncommon monsters like Uth Duna or Rey Dau. When monsters appear that one still needs crowns for, Resting again wasn’t required due to a neat trick. With theexception of Wounded Hollow, a monster will remain its size once it’s spotted.

However, by returning to the title screen without saving, the game will drop the playerback to when it Rested, changing the potential monster sizes. It’ll still take some luck for crowns to appear, but this made it viable to use the Rest option without breaking the bank. Unfortunately, the new patch ruins this strategy.
How The Patch Wrecks Solo Crown Hunting In Monster Hunter Wilds
500 Points Is A Lot To Some Players
While theMonster Hunter Wilds1.010 update brought many good things, the balance changes weren’t in favor of the playerbase.Capcom’s official patch notesdetail the following adjustments:
The “Rest” command now requires 500 guild points, and investigations reward 10% more guild points than before.

This is a huge difference. Going from 300 guild points to 500 might not seem like a lot, but when a player only has a few crowns left, one will burn those points fast, even using the title screen exploit. Getting Uth Duna or Rey Dau to spawn can take more than four Rests, and that alone will now cost 2,000 guild points.
500 is just too much, and the investigation reward bonus doesn’t make up the difference. While crown hunting solo proves to be fun and satisfying in its own right, completing the whole set isn’t worth it now with these new balance changes. Thankfully, crown hunting is significantly easier with a group, and it’s a must at this point.

Crown Hunting Must Be Done Cooperatively Now In Monster Hunter Wilds
It’s Faster, More Efficient, And All Around Easier
SinceMonster Hunter Wilds' launch, using the community has proved to be the best way to complete the 52 crown set, and now it’s practically mandatory. There are a couple of key methods to use groups here. One is to find crown hunting squads through the Squad Information Counter, which can now be found at the Grand Hub once the area’s unlocked. If the area’s not unlocked yet, theSquad Information Center is located at the Windward Plains.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Best Update 1.010 Change Makes Fights Like Gore Magala Way Less Of A Headache
Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 brings a host of new features for hunters to engage with, but Wilds much needed camera fix is one of the best.
The other method for finding crown hunting squads is to seek out people and groups through achievement/trophy-hunting websites.TrueAchievementsfor Xbox andPSNProfilesfor PlayStation are both great resources for finding people available to help with crown hunting. One can get into crown-hunting groups, or if just a few crowns short, there are certain people willing to share investigations for specific crowns.

It’s unfortunate that solo crown hunting is no longer viable inMonster Hunter Wilds. Frankly, though, completing the set this way proves to be so much easier and faster that everyone should have been doing it since day one.
