Spoiler Alert for Ghosts season 4
Ghostsseason 4 added another character inspired byGhosts(UK), but they completely changed her personality. Plenty of ghosts in the U.S. series draw inspiration from their UK counterparts. However, some connections are more apparent than others. For instance, Pete (Richie Moriarty) from CBSGhostsis strikingly similar to Pat (Jim Howick) fromGhostsfor the BBC. Both spirits died after a member of their scout troop shot them in the neck with an arrow, and they both have wives named Carol, who cheated on them with their best friend. Still, not all ghost counterparts have as much in common.

Somecharacters from the U.S.Ghostsseriesonly resemble the qualities of their UK counterparts. The oldestghosts in bothGhostsU.S. andGhostsUK, Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and Robin (Laurence Rickard), can control electricity since they died of a lightning strike. However, the oldest ghost character is a Viking in the American series and a caveman in the British program. Patience (Mary Holland), the latest ghost from the CBS series, also draws inspiration from a British ghost, but they have some significant contrasts. Still,Patience’s ghost backstoryconnection to the UK series may have implications for her future.
Ghosts Season 4’s Patience Is Inspired By UK’s Annie
Mary Holland Plays Patience
Patience, a Puritan ghost introduced in theGhostsseason 4 premiere, is directly connected to Annie (Bridget Christie) fromGhostsUK.Annie was a Puritan ghost from the Stuart era, born in 1670, who died and became a ghost at Button House after she choked on a piece of bread. While Annie adhered to a strict Protestant lifestyle while alive, the character was determined to have as much fun as possible in the afterlife. Annie was a good friend to Mary (Katy Wix), who was also from the Stuart era and resembled Patience in other ways.
Patience and Mary are both close to the witch hunts happening at the time in their respective nations during their lifetimes.

Patience was banned from her Puritan communityin 1692 and died shortly thereafter. Her community didn’t want Patience due to her values, which were extreme even within the Puritan community. In the season 4 premiere, Patience noted that she was more“joyless”and“severe”than anyone in her religious community, to which the council member replied that she wastoosevere. Patience wanted to have a five-year-old girl named Elizabeth Prew tried for witchcraft because she was talking to her doll. While Patience and Annie are of the same religion, the characters have more differences than similarities.
How Ghosts U.S.' Patience Is Different From Annie (& What This Means For Her Future)
Bridget Christie Played Annie
Patience is a strict follower of the Puritan ideologies in her life and death. In contrast,Annie mocked the values she had to followwhile alive and defied them during her afterlife. Annie encouraged Mary to speak her mind, and one of her favorite things to do was insult and make fun of"the livings.“While Annie is technically Patience’s UK counterpart, the characters couldn’t be more opposite. Still, their fate may be the same. In the BritishGhostsseason 4, Annie was"sucked off.“The same could happen to Patience if she loosens her values to care about others.
