TheGenshin Impact5.4 livestream has been confirmed by developer HoYoverse, with an established date and time for the special event to take place and small teasers of what to expect.Version 5.4 is the next update for the popular action RPG, set to steer away from the main Natlan story arc as its apex and conclusion have occurred with the Archon Quests introduced with Version 5.3. The game is still going through Version 5.3 and has just entered Phase 2, where players can engage with the Lantern Rite Festival and pull forArlecchino or Clorinde inGenshin Impact5.3.

Even though there is still a lot to go through in Version 5.3, attention is already shifting toward the next update. The beta tests for Version 5.4 started a few weeks ago and, because of them, leaks about the upcoming content have emerged, such as the possible character banners, events, quality-of-life updates, and even aF2P event weapon inGenshin Impact5.4, which may be worse than expected. The Version 5.4 livestream is just a few days away from occurring, but thanks to the leaks it’s already possible to speculate what will be shown during the special event.

Genshin Impact: Best Lan Yan Builds (Weapons, Artifacts, Team Comps, Stats)

Optimizing Lan Yan’s build is important, as the 4-star Anemo shielder from Genshin Impact can provide a powerful shield for her party members.

It’s worth noting that the Version 5.4 livestream is happening a bit earlier than expected. Usually, update livestreams occur two weeks before the patch’s arrival. With Version 5.4 set for release on February 12, it was expected that its livestream would happen on January 31. However, with the confirmed January 24 date, the special event is being pushed a bit earlier. While HoYoverse didn’t reveal a reason as to why theGenshin Impact5.4 livestream is happening a week earlier, it’s possible to speculate that it’s because of the Chinese New Year celebrations, which start on January 29.

What To Expect From Genshin Impact 5.4 Livestream - New Characters & Leaked Banners

Only One New Character Will Be Released

One of the main topics during the Version 5.4 livestream should be the lineup of character banners, which will include one new character, Yumemizuki Mizuki, who has been confirmed as an Anemo character from Inazuma. The leaks have shown that Mizuki will be a 5-star character who uses a catalyst. According to the leaks aboutYumemizuki Mizuki’s kit inGenshin Impact5.4,she will operate as a healer and support for her team comp, with healing and increased Swirl DMG for her allies based on her Elemental Mastery stat. Furthermore, Mizuki seems like a secondary or tertiary damage dealer.

Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Has Me Hopeful For Genshin Impact On The New Console

The announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2 console for 2025 has renewed my hopes of seeing and playing Genshin Impact on a hybrid console.

Mizuki is expected to be the only new character in the patch, with the rest of the banners being composed of reruns. In fact, the rumors indicate that there will be at least one highly anticipated rerun. According to the leaks about theVersion 5.4 character banners,Yumemizuki Mizuki will debut in Phase 1 banners alongside a rerun for Wriothesley, while Phase 2 banners will host reruns for Sigewinne and Furina. Wriothesley has long been due a rerun because he’s never appeared in banners since his debut in Version 4.1.

Genshin Impact’s Neuvillette looks serious in front of a blurred Nintendo Switch 2.

As one of the strongest Cryo characters inGenshin Impact, Wriothesley’s return has long been anticipated for players who missed him the first time.

Sigewinne has also never rerun, though she was released in Version 4.7, just before the arrival of Natlan, and her gameplay kit is not as outstanding as Wriothesley’s. The 5-star Hydro healer performs a suboptimal job when compared to other Hydro healers.Furina, on the other hand, is expected to rerun for the second time if the leaks about the Version 5.4 banners are correct. Contrary to Sigewinne,Furina inGenshin Impactis highly regarded as one of the best Hydro characters in the game, capable of operating as a top-tier healer, a top-tier damage dealer, or a top-tier support.

Genshin Impact 5.4 May Add A Long-Needed Feature (But Only For Some Players)

A new leaked feature may be added to Genshin Impact 5.4, which will enhance the gameplay experience, but only for a portion of the community.

Because the update is expected to take players back to Inazuma for its flagship event, the lack of more Inazuma characters in the banners other than Mizuki has prompted some doubts from players, wondering why units from the Nation of Electro won’t be in the spotlight if the region itself is. With this, some rumors emerged that there would be anew Chronicled Wish banner inGenshin Impact5.4.The Chronicled Wish system was updated for Version 5.3 and, in the current patch, the focus is on Liyue characters, leading players to believe Inazuma will be the next featured region.

Genshin Impact’s Raiden Shogun unsheates a sword on the left while Yoimiya aims her bow on the right.

If this is true, players could have a chance at pulling for 5-star characters like Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko, Kaedahara Kazuha, Arataki Itto, Sangonomiya Kokomi, Kamisato Ayaka, Kamisato Ayato, and Yoimiya, for example. With Chronicled Wish, the respective signature weapons of each of these characters would also be featured. There haven’t been leaks about a new Inazuma-themed Chronicled Wish in Version 5.4, much like there weren’t for the Chronicled Wish in Version 5.3, but if it were to happen, HoYoverse would confirm it through theGenshin Impact5.4 livestream.

What To Expect From Genshin Impact 5.4 Livestream - Events & More

The Update Shouldn’t Receive New Main Story Missions

In terms of main story content, Version 5.4 shouldn’t have much to offer, as it’s coming to a pause with the conclusion of the Natlan story arc. That does not mean that there will not be developments in side stories. In fact, the aforementioned flagship event in Inazuma is expected to take up the largest portion of Version 5.4, introducing Yumemizuki Mizuki as an NPC, too, while taking players back to the Nation of Electro. This event is also the same one expected to offer the aforementioned F2P event weapon inGenshin Impact5.4.

Genshin Impact: One Silly Farming Mechanic Should Be Deactivated

There is one silly and outdated farming mechanic in Genshin Impact that needs to be reevaluated by HoYoverse because of how limiting it can be.

In addition to the main event, the patch should have other smaller events to help fill up the six weeks the update is expected to last. There haven’t been too many substantial leaks, highlighting how slim of a patch it will be in comparison to Version 5.3, for example, but there have been mentions of a possiblebattle tower event in Version 5.4, which should challenge players’ team comp and character-building abilities. There will also be new quality-of-life updates inGenshin Impact5.4, such as upgrades to the character guides and a new weapon filter, which have been confirmed onHoYoLAB.

While the update is expected to be much shorter than the previous ones, most of which have been riding on the releases of new Natlan-related content, there will still be a lot for players to do. Most of it should be confirmed with the Version 5.4 livestream, which will not only show but also detail what players will be able to tackle during the update asGenshin Impactenters a smoother period before upping the ante ahead of the release of Nod-Krai in Version 6.0.
