Summary

Fast and Furious 11will likely break a tradition that’s been around in the saga since the very beginning, as it brings all of the franchise’s characters together for one final adventure. The previous film ends on a dramatic cliffhanger with Dom Toretto and his son Brian gettingtrapped by Dante and surrounded by explosives. Not much is known about theplot ofFast and Furious 11, but it’s sure to pick up where the previous film ended and find a way to get Dom out of that sticky situation.

Several other characters were brought back in theending ofFast X,including Dwayne Johnson’s fan-favorite character Agent Hobbs, who learns that he’s the next target on Dante’s list. This long-awaited return marked a turning point for the franchise’s behind-the-scenes drama between Johnson and Vin Diesel, who had been publicly feuding for the past few years. This apparent resolution suggests that Hobbs will be back, opening the door for many other characters to make their returns too, and this extended cast marks a noteworthy departure for the franchise.

Who Dies In Fast X (& Whose Fates Are Unknown)

The tenth Fast and Furious movie delivers some surprising character fates. Here is each Fast X death explained and what happens to the rest.

Fast & Furious 11 Will Likely Not Introduce A New Main Villain

There’s No Room For Another Antagonist In The Story

Until now, every singleFast and Furiousmoviehas introduced a new main villain, but in the eleventh movie, it’s highly likely that Dante will be taking center stage again. While some may be disappointed thatFast and Furious 11probably won’t be adding another classic villain to its roster, this decision absolutely makes sense. Judging by the cliffhanger ending ofFast X, it’s probable that the next movie is going to be, at least in spirit, a “Part 2.” Introducing a new villain in the middle of this story would be potentially confusing.

Dante immediately proved that he was thefinal boss ofFast and Furiouswith his huge presence inFast X, posing the largest threat to Toretto and his team that any of the villains ever have. Hispersonal connection and intimate vendettawith Dom gives him a unique quality that wasn’t present in previous villains, making him the perfect candidate to continue this franchise to its conclusion.

Fast & Furious Has A Strong Track Record With Villains

The Antagonists Have Always Been The Highlight

Although not all of theFast and Furiousmovies have been great, the compelling villains have always been this franchise’s strongest feature. The first few movies struggled to find their footing, but this trend of exciting villains really started with Hernan Reyes inFast 5, the Brazilian drug lord whose crimes first brought Dom Toretto into contact with Agent Hobbs and the FBI.Fast Xeven paid homage to this classic villain by revealing Dante to be his son, spurred to avenge his father’s death.

From there, theFast and Furiousvillainscontinued to get better and better.Fast and Furious 6introduced Owen Shaw, the leader of a group of mercenaries including Dom’s ex-lover Letty. Luke Evans’ huge performance immediately solidified Shaw as an all-time great villain, surpassed only by the character’s own brother Deckard inFurious 7. The stakes got even higher when international terrorist Cypher took the reigns inThe F8 of the Furious, and things got personal again when Dom’s brother Jakob was announced as the main villain ofF9. These were all exceptional villains that elevated the already high-stakes stories.

Jason Momoa’s Dante Was Too Good To Appear In Just One Movie

The Character Deserves A Second Chance To Steal The Show

However, theFast and Furiousvillains really peaked with Jason Mamoa’s Dante. He’s the perfect caricature of all the villains that came before him, mixing the personal story of revenge with a loud, goofy performance thatmakes him seem like a supervillain. Mamoa is excellent at blending the funny aspects of the character with the more serious tone of his backstory, forging a character that’s not just one-sided.Fast Xis very much his story, and ifFast and Furious 11is going to be a continuation of that narrative, it wouldn’t have made sense to replace him halfway through.

TheFast and Furiousvillains have been getting better and better as the series progressed, and introducing a new antagonist in the final movie would be a huge gamble. If they weren’t as compelling as Dante, it would feel like the series hadstumbled at the final hurdle. Bringing Mamoa along for the ride is a smart decision that allows the writers to focus on the characters that really matter instead of forcing a new villain into the story.
