Fast and Furious 11gets an uncertain filming update from Jordana Brewster, who plays Mia Toretto. Brewster first appeared as Mia, little sister to Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, in the 2001 original movie, and she has since played an important role in a number of theFast & Furioussequels, including last year’sFast X. After a mixed reception to the most recent installment,Fast & Furious 11is confirmed to be on the way, and it could end up being the final installment in the Fast Saga.
During a recent interview withScreen Rant, Brewster is asked what she knows aboutFast & Furious 11’s filming timeline, revealing that she’s not yet aware of when production might start. After joking that she might press Diesel for more information about the sequel, the actor shares her hopes that production isn’t too far off. Check out Brewster’s comment below:

I don’t have a timeline. I’m usually — I mean, I’ll probably read it online, or I’ll try to, try to get some information out of Vin. [Laughs] But, no, I don’t know yet. But hopefully soon.
As for story hopes for Mia in the upcoming installment,Brewster expresses an interest in seeing the character in more big action sequences, but stresses: “Don’t kill her!“At the mention of Mia’s family with Brian, played by the late Paul Walker, the actor reveals that she would be interested in seeing both of those characters reunited on screen one more time:

I’d like to see them. I’d like to see the teens come back. That’d be cool.
Walker passed away in 2013 during the making ofFurious 7(2015), but Brian remains alive in the world of the franchise.

What Mia’s Update Means For Fast & Furious 11’s Release
What Director Louis Leterrier Has Said About The Sequel’s Production
Fast & Furious 11was originally slated to release in spring 2025, continuing Dom’s story after the cliffhangerFast Xending, but it was subsequently pushed from that date. Though it doesn’t yet have a firm release date,Fast Xdirector Louis Leterrier, who will return for the upcoming installment, revealed toColliderin May of this year that the sequel is targeting a 2026 theatrical bow. In the same interview, the director confirmed what Roman actor Tyrese Gibson previously hinted at, which is thatfilming will start in “early 2025.”
Fast & Furious 11 Will Break 20-Year-Old Franchise Tradition That Defined The Fast Saga
Fast and Furious 11 will likely break a long-running trend that’s made the franchise so successful until now, but it’s for good reason.
That interview, however, is more than six months old, andBrewster still not having a filming date could suggest that the plan forFast & Furious 11has evolved. If filming was to begin early next year, one of the franchise’s key stars would presumably know about it. Filming, after all, requires a lot of busy schedules all working in harmony, and theFast & Furiouscastonly continues to grow. The movie will likely target a spring or summer release date in 2026, so that means there will be a limited window in 2025 to get the film in the can.

Our Take On Brewster’s Fast & Furious 11 Update
What Should Be Next For Mia In The Final Installment
WhileFast & Furious 11’s filming plan still needs some clarification from Diesel or Leterrier, Brewster’s story hopes are notable. In recent installments, Mia usually plays a smaller role in action sequences, especially compared to characters like Dom and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). AfterMia’s brief but exciting fight scene inFast X, it would be refreshing to see her play a larger role in the action in the next movie.
As for Mia’s reunion with Brian, this seems like an inevitability. Brian was last seen inFurious 7, but he remains alive in the world of the films and his car was featured at the end ofF9: The Fast Saga(2021). Though many questions remain aboutFast & Furious 11, including when it will actually go to camera,it does seem likely that audiences will get to see Brian one last time.
