What This Means For Doctor Who

Ruby and Belinda Will Meet

The addition of a newDoctor Whocompanionin season 2 is not unusual for the show, which frequently gives The Doctor multiple companions at once. However, the presence of both Belinda and Ruby in the teaser confirms that Millie Gibson will indeed be returning alongside Varada Sethu. It was originally rumored that Gibson would be departing after season 14, an idea that was compounded by the character meeting her family and leaving The Doctor behind in the season finale.

Varada Sethu is a British actor who is best known for playing Shira inJurassic World Dominionand Cinta Kaz inAndor.

It was entirely possible that Ruby Sunday would prove to be aone-seasonDoctor Whocompanion, asthe show has set a precedent for short-lived companions as early as season 3of the original run, which premiered in 1965 and featured three companions - Katarina (Adrienne Hill), Sara Kingdom (Jean Marsh), and Dodo Chaplet (Jackie Lane) - who never returned. However, this teaser - which shows Ruby with her family - promises that this is not the end of the road for Millie Gibson, who showrunner Russel T Davies promises joins The Doctor and Belinda on their latest adventures.
