Summary
Warning: SPOILERS ahead forX-Force #1Deadpoolisn’t exactly known to be the easiest Marvel character to work with. Called the Merc with a Mouth for a reason, Wade Wilson never really shuts up, and he loves to pester anyone unfortunate enough to team up with him. But there’s one X-Men hero that even Deadpool can’t stand, and she’s someone he’s worked with before.
X-Force #1by Geoffrey Thorne, Marcus To, Erick Arciniega, and VC’s Joe Caramagna assembles Forge’s new X-Force squad as the team hires Deadpool for a specific mission. Also included in the squad is Wade’s fellow X-Force alum, Sage – a human computer with little patience for Deadpool’s shenanigans.

As the team splits to cover more ground,Deadpool makes it clear that he finds Sage exhausting, saying, “Gotta say, man, a little Sage goes a lonnnng…” before Forge cuts him off. Never one to shut up for long, Wade adds insult to injury with “I mean, always yak-yak-yak with that one, amirite?”

Deadpool Can’t Stand The X-Men’s Living Computer
The X-Force Alums Don’t Mix Well
The two X-Force allies have worked together before, serving alongside one another on Krakoa’s X-Force, so there’s clearly a history there. But their reactions to one another make it clear that, as far as Deadpool and Sage are concerned, history can stay in the past. After all,Deadpool is infamous for running his mouth, so the idea that he thinks any other character talks too much is the definition of hypocrisy, but it’s also perfectly on brand for Wade Wilson.
Deadpool and Sage are total opposites, so it’s no wonder that she would be Wade’s least favorite X-Man.

After all, Deadpool’s run-on sentences are usually of a ridiculous or nonsensical variety, making Sage’s more analytical and borderline mechanical parlance his exact opposite. Meanwhile, Sage, also known as Tessa, is all about precision problem-solving – andwhat is Deadpoolif not one major, chaotic problem that refuses to ever be solved? These two X-Men allies go together like oil and vinegar, and while they’ve clearly worked as a well-functioning team in the past, it wasn’t without some frustration on both sides.
Deadpool and Sage Are Natural Opposites
These X-Men Allies Always Clash
Deadpool and Sage are total opposites, so it’s no wonder that she would be Wade’s least favorite X-Man. The Merc with a Mouth is many things, a hypocrite being one of them, but the one thing he can never be is silent. The idea that anybody talks too much for Wade Wilson may blow some fans’ minds, but it’s just the sort of ridiculous nitpick that fits perfectly within Deadpool’s character. And ifDeadpooldoes end up joining this new X-Force squad full-time, he and Sage are probably going to have a long conversation.
X-Force #1is available now from Marvel Comics.
