Warning: Contains spoilers for Dandadan episode #8.The latest arc ofDandadanhas been the formal introduction of Aira Shiratori, one of the anime’s main characters. Initially an ineffectual antagonist who mistakenly believed Momo to be a demon, Aira joined the group after they saved her from Acrobatic Silky, and to Momo and Okarun’s annoyance, the experience made her fall in love with Okarun, as well.
Aira might be a new addition toDandadan, but she’s already holding her weight in the story. While Aira fell into the role of a damsel against Acrobatic Silky, in episode #8, as Okarun was overwhelmed by the combined power of the Serpoians and the Dover Demon,Aira spontaneously unlocked a powerful transformation that might rival Okarun’s inDandadan, if not outright surpass it. It’s a simple, yet excellent way of justifying Aira’s continued presence inDandadan, and based on the preview for episode #9, there’s plenty to look forward to.

Aira’s Transformation In Dandadan Explained
Amidst all the romantic drama caused by Aira’s attempts to kiss Okarun, Momo, Okarun, and Aira were attacked by the Serpoians, a crab-like alien called the Dover Demon, and something that’s supposed to be the Loch Ness Monster. While Momo dealt with the Loch Ness Monster, Okarun was attacked by the Serpoians and the Dover Demon, and the Serpoians managed to shut down his powers as they prepared to harvest his penis. Surprisingly, it was Aira who saved Okarun from trouble, asDandadanrevealed that Aira gained the powers of Acrobatic Silky after she sacrificed herself to save Aira inDandadanepisode #7.
Dandadan Finds The Perfect Way To Keep Aira Around For Its Story
With Aira now having the powers ofthe Acrobatic Silkyyokai,Dandadanhas found the perfect justification for keeping her around in the story. If the only thing Aira had going for her was her intrusive feelings for Okarun, then her presence would probably feel more distracting than entertaining, especially with how it would impede Momo and Okarun’s relationship. As such,Dandadangiving Aira her own demonic transformation and making her a fighter is an easy way to justify keeping her around in the story, especially since her powers come from ayokaithat was even stronger than Okarun.
Aira’s new powers can help further her character development, as well. Aira’s powers will undoubtedly feed into her delusions of being some sort of chosen one, but if previous episodes are anything to go on, that won’t stop her from getting beaten up; that, of course, could help her become more serious about everything, soAira becoming a fighter inDandadanworks because it creates an opportunity for her to receive more character development. Overall, there are plenty of reasons why Aira’s new powers are so exciting, and it will be great to see whatDandadanultimately does with them.
