After 10 years since the release of the first chapter, theMy Hero Academiamanga brought its story to an end in chapter #430, published on August 23, 2025. This moving and memorable epilogue gave fans a chance to see the world after the threat of All For One was defeated. Nonetheless, due to its limited space, the entry did not delve deep into what happened to Deku and his friends as adults.

Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the manga, arrived just in time to save fans from despair by announcing thatvolume 42 of the manga will contain a new 38-page epilogue set after the finale. Moreover, this latest entry could kickstart a new series, something that the fandom has been pleading for ever since the ending.

My Hero Academia’s Epilogue Could Be The Beginning of A New Adventure

The Unreleased Entry Could Depict More of Dai’s Journey

In chapter #430 of theMy Hero Academiamanga, fans follow both Izuku and Dai, a student first seen in chapter #258 while he was still a small kid. After losing his Quirk during his fight against Shigaraki,Midoriya retired from being a hero and became a teacher at U.A. High. Dai, on the other hand, was struggling with self-doubt, as he believed that his underwhelming Quirk would never help him become a hero. At some point during the chapter, they both meet, with Deku’s journey coming full circle and encouraging the student in his dreams.

“And that’s the story of how we all became the greatest heroes.”

The epilogue that will be included in volume #42 of the series will likely continue the story after this significant event. Given that Dai was the focus of most of the chapter, it is likely that his story will be continued in this 38-page special. The final entry of the My Hero Academia manga could focus on his training to pass the U.A. Entrance Exam, as fans once saw Izuku do. The epilogue could also showthe impact Deku had after taking back his role as a hero, something that was hinted at during the final pages of chapter #430.

Every Manga Cover of My Hero Academia, Ranked Worst to Best

My Hero Academia has published dozens of manga volumes over the years, and here’s how every cover for those volumes rank from worst to best.

If the creator does have plans to announce a new story, focusing on these two characters once again would make sense. The final chapter of the manga already established Dai as a possible successor to Deku, hinting at him becoming the protagonist in a hypothetical sequel. By focusing on his time before becoming a student, the epilogue can set the new manga to begin right as Dai begins his studies at U.A. High, possibly even as Izuku’s pupil.

Deku’s Rise To The Top Could Also Be Addressed

Fans Were Left Waiting To See Him As a Pro

One of the few criticisms fans had about the final chapter of theMy Hero Academiamanga was the fact thatDeku was never seen acting like a pro hero. Despite his massive efforts to achieve his dreams, as well as proving several times throughout the series that he was the greatest hero, his story ended without him enjoying the fruits of his labor. As such, the epilogue could be a perfect opportunity to give readers a taste of what a pro hero Deku looks like.

Seeing as Izuku was gifted a mech suit that imitates the eight Quirks formerly contained in One For All, depicting him battling villains with it would be an amazing addition to the series. This could also be an introduction to a manga that will focus on Deku’s life as a pro, navigating the new society he helped create. A sequel that does not focus on U.A. High’s students could addresssome of the mysteries that the ending did not answer, like the Quirk Doomsday theory.

The Epilogue Could Also Be A Final Goodbye For The Heroes

Horikoshi Could Have No Plans Of Continuing The Story

While the idea of having a continuation of theMy Hero Academiamanga is exciting, the possibility ofthe epilogue being a definitive conclusion to the storyis still on the table. Chapter #430 might not have addressed every issue that fans wanted to see resolved, but it is an extremely fitting and satisfying ending to the story. The world is at peace and Deku’s friends helped him pursue his dream once again. The story could perfectly end there, with the epilogue simply giving fans a last chance to say goodbye to their favorite characters.

Whether the upcoming epilogue ofMy Hero Academiareveals plans for a sequel or not, there is no doubt that fans cannot wait to read it. The manga created by Horikoshi has become one of the most iconic and beloved in the world and its ending will leave a mark in history. Having an epilogue to commemorate such an event is an incredible gift that must be appreciated and celebrated.
