Warning: This article does include MAJOR spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Summary
Marvel Cinematic Universestar Chris Evans opens up about Johnny Storm’s lengthy and R-rated monologue in theDeadpool & Wolverinepost-credits scene. The arrival ofDeadpool & Wolverinedidn’t only bring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman intothe MCU timeline, but also allowed characters from the Fox-Marvel era to shine once again. One of them was an MCU alum, as Evans got to reprise his role as the Human Torch from the originalFantastic Fourfilms, as he crossed paths with Wade Wilson and Logan.
In a new interview withPeople, Evans looked back on getting to be part of theDeadpool & Wolverinecast and reprise his Marvel hero from the early 2000s. TheCaptain Americaactor also talked about how his monologue for theDeadpool & Wolverinepost-credits scene came to be when Reynolds approached him about it, sharing the following:

It was a couple years ago and I got a text from Ryan [Reynolds], we’re buddies. He just said, ‘Listen, if you don’t like this idea, no worries whatsoever. But I have something that could really bring the house down and would let you play a character from your past.’ I mean, honestly, I would do anything Ryan asked," Evans says. “He gave me a great cameo in Free Guy already, and I just trust him completely.
So the chance to be Johnny again, I couldn’t pass up. I loved it. It was fun to shoot, fun to watch, all of it. Ryan was like, ‘Listen, if we need cue cards…’ and I was like, ‘Cue cards? I’m showing up off-book,’ I don’t get to say dialogue like this. Trust me. I’m going to enjoy every second of this. Memorized.

Deadpool & Wolverine has two credits scenes, so we break down what they both mean for the future and historic legacy of Marvel movies.
Could Chris Evans Still Return As Johnny Storm Despite Deadpool & Wolverine’s Ending?
As Evans' Human Torch was one of the most memorableDeadpool & Wolverinecameos,Johnny’s story came to an end in the midst of the film as Cassandra Nova had him killed. However, if there is any takeaway that audience members should have from superhero and comic book movies, it is that just because a character is killed off, it doesn’t always mean the end. There are a number of ways that Evans could still play Johnny again afterDeadpool & Wolverine.
With the multiverse at their disposal, Evans could easily play a new Johnny variant, who may have had a very different outcome than the one Evans played in the originalFantastic Fourmovies. While neither of them appeared in the movie, Johnny’s Reed Richards was name-dropped as one of the manyreferences and Easter eggs inDeadpool & Wolverine, which suggests that Ioan Gruffudd’s character and the rest of the Fantastic Four are still alive. Perhaps on the Earth that this new Human Torch comes from, he lost his allies and had to go on without them.
AsAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Warsare coming up,it would be emotionally powerful to see the original Fantastic Four cross paths with a new Johnny variant, as both sides would have to deal with the fact that they are looking at someone who looks like their fallen allies. Phase 6 would honestly be the best time to approach a story like that, as The Multiverse Saga is rumored to end with a soft reboot for the MCU. But until that happens, the MCU audience can reliveDeadpool & Wolverineand all its fun cameos in theaters.
