Welcome , friends , to the tale that never stop : it ’s Star Trek : Discovery and the flaming nightmare big money that has been every bit of Commonwealth of Puerto Rico for this show . It could be not bad , it could be big , it has been unsufferable to separate . And it will stay insufferable to tell , since CBS has reportedly made it a shape of seeing the show early that no reviews be released until Discovery gentle wind .

And that ’s usually a bad sign .
For movies , this is an established proficiency that ’s often done to prevent critic from trashing a bad film before it ’s released in hopes people will see it if they do n’t hear the brushup ; recent example include The Dark Tower and The Emoji Movie . But it ’s by no mean value a guaranty of badness — many repugnance pic do n’t show covering , which do n’t traditionally get good reviews well , even if audience ending up love them . But it ’s still backbreaking not to see a refusal to leave early reviews as a lack of sureness in its quality .
And a Star Trek show , done at all well , should review well . A undecomposed cast and effects will get the show midway there , and Discovery looks to have both in spades . And a serious contemplation of important topics in Star Trek ’s usual allegoric - edge - on - pretentious manner is the sort of stuff that experience attending and jabber reviews these days . This is n’t fare that does n’t fare well with critic — at least it should n’t be .
Given all the problem Star Trek : Discovery has had since it was first announced , I do n’t have a go at it whether if the show is in reality speculative or if this is just another trip-up on the part of CBS . I suspect , unluckily , it ’s in all likelihood just my wishful thought process that says it might be in effect . Maybe in the Mirror Universe , there ’s a variant of Discovery that descend out on sentence , with Bryan Fuller as showrunner and its original vision intact , and had normal PR .
We ’ve reached out to CBS for comment and will update if we get it . uncovering premieres on September 24 , at which point , presumably , we ’ll get reviews of it .
