Steve Rogers has always fought on the side of “good” and will go to bat, relentlessly, for any causes he believes to be right.Straczynski’s Captain America runhas put a new light on this by revealing that he is and always has beena Change Agent, essentially meaning that his soul is one of many that enter the world at times of great change or upheaval. Martin Luther King Jr, Gandhi, and other historical figures have been named as fellow Change Agents, too, but his current team holds both the honor and burden of fighting on Lyra, or Life’s, side against her brother, Death.
The Change Agents are not merely a group of people driven to help: they have been chosen by Life herself.

As varied and enormous asthe Avengers' conflicts have beenover the years, with plenty of them holding the fate of the world in their hands,Cap and the Change Agents have been tasked with saving existence itself on an unfathomable scale. Each of the mutant Change Agents Lyra sent him to recruit have their own specific abilities, ranging from physical regeneration to precognition, and Lyra has named Steve as her Champion in the fight. The Change Agents are not merely a group of people driven to help: they have been chosen by Life herself.
The Change Agents: Captain America’s Most Powerful Allies In His History – Even More Than Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
Mutants With A Metaphysical Destiny
Although Steve has had little time with the Change Agents that Lyra sent him to find, the abilities they’ve revealed are impressive. Carlos Garcia, Cap’s first recruit, goes by the codename “Skinz” and can regenerate his skin and body parts, as well as secrete toxins from his skin. It’s proved useful as both a distraction tactic and, obviously, to survive otherwise devastating physical attacks. As the first recruit, Carlos accompanied Steve to find their next target, amutant with precognitionknown as “Seer.” Her precognition works through the calculation of possibilities, and she has an affinity for electronics.
Collectively, the Change Agents make a mind-blowingly powerful team.
The central figure Lyra sent Captain America to locate is a mutant named Malik, flanked by the powerful “Guardian.“Malik has the uncanny ability to see the truthin people, along with the future, and is set up to be the most powerful of Cap’s Change Agents. He’s central to Lyra’s plan, and thus Death’s biggest target. Seer, who struck a deal with Death before ever meeting Steve and the others, appears to uniquely hold Malik’s fate in her hands - which Malik is aware of, yet does not stop her from making whatever her final decision may be. Collectively, the Change Agents make a mind-blowingly powerful team.
The Fate of The Change Agents Is Beyond Even Captain America’s Grasp
Steve Still Has Unfinished Business With Death
Captain America has assembled a magnificent team of Change Agents to fight for Life in whatever way is necessary.
Despite all the work it took to gather the Change Agents for Lyra, the ultimate goal was to get them out of the regular world and into the Front Door. When it comes to their confrontation with Death, Steve does most of the heavy lifting by acting as a distraction while the others hit their mark. His mutant crew was never meant to make their final stand on Earth, and their fate is sealed behind the entrance of the Front Door, beyond Death’s reach. Yet, with all that is at stake,it’s unlikely to be the last he sees of the Change Agents.

Marvel Confirms Captain America’s Fate as a Literal God (In Marvel’s Main Continuity)
Discovering his place as a Change Agent is only the beginning for Captain America. Now, he’s destined to inherit the key to the world’s future.
Even with Death currently thwarted, Steve’s part doesn’t feel complete. Change Agents are intended to “move” the world, meaning they’ll all still have a role to play. Only the tip of their power has been revealed, with only Skinz truly demonstrating what he’s capable of. Cap has shepherded the mutants as he was intended to, utilizing his uncanny ability to sway people to a good cause, and he’ll likely fight at their side more than this confrontation allowed. As things stand,Captain Americahas assembled a magnificent team of Change Agents to fight for Life in whatever way is necessary.

Captain America#13is available now from Marvel Comics.
Captain America
Initially debuting in 1940, Captain America is the patriotically themed superhero who has shared the title with only a few individuals. Beginning with Steve Rogers, Captain America’s birth resulted from a frail man taking part in an experimental U.S. Army super-soldier trial, which imbued him with super-human abilities. The character is often depicted wielding a nigh unbreakable and aerodynamic shield made of vibranium that they use to defend and attack their foes.
