AfterCreature Commandos' latest episode, which gave Batman his latest cameo, fans are naturally waiting to see what is next for the DC icon in the future.
In a new interview withRotten Tomatoes, Gunn opened up about the Batman cameo inCreature Commandosseason 1, episode 6, while also offering up a brief update on the Dark Knight in the newly established continuity. Without getting too specific, Gunn stressed that with Batman being his favorite superhero,he can’t wait for fans to see what DC Studios is planning for him, stating the following:
This is the DCU Batman… listen, I gotta tell you, I just love Batman, I love him! I’ve loved him since I was a little kid. He’s one of my favorite characters, I have gone on the record in the past when I was at Marvel saying, ‘My favorite character is Batman, I love him.’ We’re going to do great things with him, he’s the most popular superhero in the world andI can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman and together.
What James Gunn’s Batman Future Comments Mean For The DCU
WithGunn’sSupermanmoviecoming up later this year,the concept of having Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne together in live-action again is closer than ever. Even though Batman is not set to appear inSuperman, the film could still establish whether or not Clark has a dynamic with this continuity’s version of Bruce. Given that Gunn has confirmed that this is a DCU that has superheroes already established, it wouldn’t be shocking if these two already know each other or have started to build a working relationship together.
As far as Batman’s future after hisCreature Commandosseason 1, episode 6 cameo, just becauseThe Brave and The Boldis delayed,it doesn’t mean the Dark Knight couldn’t show up in other DCU projects before his solo film. Bruce could easily have a supporting role in other DCU movies and TV shows, especially if they end up casting him beforeThe Brave and The Bold. With Batman being such a major player across DC in all mediums, it shouldn’t be shocking that Batman shows up again before they have him lead his own movie.
