InBaldur’s Gate 3, the Rogue class excels at picking off enemies while remaining obscured and out of sight. Whether it be through the use of a bow or blades, Rogues can make quick work of their enemies with multiple successive attacks. There are plenty of fantastic gear options that a Rogue can use to exploit Advantage to their benefit, as Sneak Attacks only work when the user has Advantage.
Rogues don’t have access to Medium and Heavy Armour without multiclassing, which can be daunting as Rogues don’t have many reliable ways to break past 20 Armour Class. Players can mitigate this issue if they desireby taking 2 levels of Fighter, which will grant both Armour proficiencies as well as the Action Surge ability. However, if players would like to stick with just the Rogue class, utilize these armour pieces for a strong pure Rogue.

10Cloak of Cunning Brume
Fog Cloud on Disengage
The Cloak of Cunning Brume can be bought or stolen in Act 2 from the Tiefling child Mattis inBG3’s Last Light Inn, assuming the player saves the Grove and the Tiefling refugees. If the player raids the Grove, Mattis is killed and never makes it to Act 2, rendering this item unobtainable without the use of mods. Mattis will also have some other useful items in Act 3, such as the Corvid Token, soI highly recommend keeping him alive if possible.
I recommend using this Cloak until the player reaches the Lower City, where the best Rogue cloak is found.

This cloak grants the wearer the Cunning Brume passive, so whenever the wearer disengages, itcreates a fog cloud that lasts for 1 turn. This is perfect for Rogues, as they can use this fog cloud to their advantage in order to set up additional sneak attacks. While within this fog cloud, entities are obscured, which means Advantage on Attack Rolls.
9Shade-Slayer Cloak
Increase Critical Hit Chance
The Shade-Slayer Cloak can be bought or stolen in Act 3 from Sticky Dondo, a vendor in the Guild Hall that is next to theTiefling child Mol inBG3. In order to ensure this vendor stays open, make sure to side with the Guild against the Zhentarim, who are attempting to take over the hideout for themselves. This cloak is perfect for any builds that utilize hiding, so it is an essential pickup for most parties.
Enemies have Disadvantage on Attack Rolls that target the wearer.
The Deathstalker Mantle
Once per turn, when killing an enemy, the wearer becomes Invisible for 2 turns.
+1 to Armour Class and +1 to Saving Throws

Cloak of Elemental Absorption
Absorb Elements: Per Short Rest Take half damage from the next elemental attack targeting the wearer, and deal 1d6 of that element on the wearer’s next attack.
The Shade-Slayer Cloak grants the wearer the Stealthy Critical passive, whichreduces the number needed to roll a Critical Hit while hiding by 1. This effect can also stack, meaning it can combo with weapons likeThe Dead Shotbow. Combine this with the advantage of being obscured, and Rogues should be landing Critical Hits every battle.

8Amulet of Misty Step
For Perfect Positioning
TheAmulet Of Misty Stepcan be looted in Act 1 from a Gilded Chest inside the Defiled Temple section of the Goblin Camp, guarded by an ogre. As seen inTechKuya’s video, she is guarding Priestess Gut’s private chamberswhichleads toBG3’s Underdark, so make sure to dispose of her before continuing to loot this item. There aren’t any Rogue-specific amulets, so this is a good option for Rogues to move around the battlefield efficiently.
This amulet grants the wearerone use of the Misty Step spell per Short Rest, which all players will typically need. Most players who use Rogues tend to pick the Thief or Assassin subclass, which do not utilize spells. As such, adding Misty Step to their arsenal is a perfect way to get to a good vantage point both before and during a fight.

7Shifting Corpus Ring
Free Invisibility and Blur
TheShifting Corpus Ringcan be acquired in Act 2 fromFlaming Fist Marcusafter defeating him at Last Light Inn when he tries to capture Isobel. It comes with two concentration spells, those being Blur and Invisibility.Blur imposes Disadvantage on enemy attack rollsand invisibility is useful for Rogues when stealing or pickpocketing.
+1 to AC while Obscured

Ring of Free Action
Ignore the effects of Difficult Terrain and cannot be Paralyzed or Restrained.
Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands
Invisibility Spell
Rogues traditionally aren’t spell casters, which meansthey have a free slot for concentration spells. Blur and Invisibility are perfect spells for a Rogue to make use of, as they both work in tandem to prevent a Rogue from being attacked. Also, Rogues have high Stealth and Sleight of Hand, meaning invisibility can come in handy for utility purposes such as theft or breaking and entering.
6Risky Ring
Sneak Attack Every Turn
TheRisky Ringcan be bought or stolen from thevendor Araj Oblodrain Moonrise Towers during Act 2. Wearing this ringgrants the wearer Advantage on all of their Attack Rolls, but Disadvantage on all their Saving Throws. This is the best ring in the game for Rogues, as this grants them the ability to Sneak Attack whenever they want.
Sneak Attacks require Advantage in order to work.
While the Risky Ring is a great pick for all classes that utilize weapon attacks, it is much stronger for a Rogue and should be given priority for this item. Also, this ring makes Critical Hits more common, which stacks well with items like the Shade-Slayer Cloak and the Deadshot Bow. With Rogues being able to Sneak Attack whenever they want, they do not have to engage a target before entering battle while wearing this ring.
5Disintegrating Night Walkers
Unimpeded By Difficult Terrain
The Disintegrating Night Walkers can be looted or pickpocketed in Act 1 fromTrue Soul Nereat the Grymforge. These boots are one of the best items in the game and considering they are found so early, this makes them even stronger. They grant the wearer afree use of Misty Step once per Short Rest andimmunity to being Enwebbed, Entangled, Ensnared, and slipping on Grease or Ice.
If these boots are contested and the Rogue cannot use them, I recommend the Dark Justiciar Boots, which provide the Shadow Teleportation Cantrip.

These boots are especially effective for classes that don’t have access to the Misty Step spell, such as Rogues. One Misty Step per Short Rest is all players will realistically need. Theimmunity to slipping and being restrainedcan also open up synergies with the rest of the party, such as usingSleet Stormto break a spell caster’s concentration so the Rogue can move in for a sneak attack.
4Bonespike Gloves
Ignore Physical Resistances
TheBonespike Glovesare tricky to acquire and can be easily missed if the player does not know what to look for. During Bhaal’s Power Word Kill Ritual, on the way to theTemple of Bhaal, a wave of enemies will spawn to prevent the player from reaching the Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev. Strangler Luke, one of these enemies, will drop the Bonespike Gloves upon his defeat, as seen inkijara42’s video.
Ensure to loot the gloves before interrupting the ritual, as Strangler Luke’s corpse will despawn once the ritual concludes.

The Bonespike Gloves grant the wearer the Exoskeletal Reinforcement passive, which makes thewearer’s attacks ignore Resistance to Slashing, Piercing, and Bludgeoning damage. With the sheer amount of bosses that have Physical damage resistances, this is a great fit for a Rogue that seeks to do as much damage as possible. It also synergizes well with the Bhaalist Armour, which imposes vulnerability to Piercing damage.
3Mask of Soul Perception
Increase Attack Rolls and Initiative
The Mask of Soul Perception can be looted inBG3’s Act 3from a DC 20 Gilded Chest in Helsik’s Roomon the second floor of the Devil’s Fee. There are a few other high DC chests nearby as well, so ensure to bring plenty of Thieves' Tools. Rogues should have little to no problem opening this chest, though.
The Mask of Soul Perception grants the wearer the Detect Thoughts spell once per Short Rest. It also comes with the Soul Perception passive, which provides the wearer with a +2 to Attack Rolls, Initiative Rolls, and Perception Checks. This is wonderful for Rogues, as it is important for them to go first during combat.
2Elegant Studded Leather
Advantage on Stealth Checks
In Act 3, the Elegant Studded Leather can be acquired or stolen fromThe Counting House’s High Security Vaultin the Lower City, as seen inraaz1312’s video on YouTube. A key to the vault can be obtained by completing the questReturn Rakath’s Gold. This gear is an excellent defensive option for Rogues, as it can synergize with a stealthy play style.
This Elegant Studded Leather grants the wearer a+2 bonus to Initiative Rolls andAdvantage on Stealth Checks. It also comes with a free use of the Shield reaction once per Short Rest, allowing the Rogue to use a reaction in order to increase their Armour Class by 5. Advantage on Stealth Checks is important for Rogues to successfully hide when needed.
1Bhaalist Armour
Double Piercing DPS
The Bhaalist Armour can be purchased in Act 3 from the Echo of Abazigal in the Murder Tribunal after the player accepts Bhaal andbecomes an Unholy Assassin. This armour grants the wearer the Aura of Murder passive, whichmakes enemies within 2 meters vulnerable to Piercing damageunless they are Resistant or Immune to it. It also provides a +2 to the wearer’s Initiative Rolls, which stacks with the Mask of Soul Perception.
1d6 Piercing + Strength or Dexterity
1d4 Necrotic
1d4 Piercing
Rhapsody
1d4 Piercing + Strength or Dexterity
Given the effect of the Aura of Murder, the Bhaalist Armour truly excels when usingmelee weapons that deal Piercing damage. However, this means that Rogues must get into close range to take advantage of the debuff. For Rogues who are primarily dealing ranged damage, this chest armour might not be necessary. However, for melee Rogues, there isn’t a better option inBaldur’s Gate 3.
