If you are looking for the right build for a Fighter and Wizard multiclass character inAvowed, there are plenty of fun options that you may find.Classes are very flexible in this game, and you can really fine-tune it to make the character you enjoy playing the most. Prioritize having fun and being able to deal with enemies efficiently, and you will be just fine as you go about the game.
There are plenty ofmulticlass builds inAvowed, and as the game launches, there is a lot of information from those who played Early Access. While it is a decently sized RPG,I never felt overwhelmed by the choices available in the game, and it felt fairly easy to get the build I wanted. There is also a lot of flexibility, and players can switch and choose to change builds whenever they desire.

Best Abilities For A Fighter Wizard Multiclass Build
What Will Make Your Character Strongest
You will getaround 29 Ability Points in the game, although this varies depending on whatGodlike abilities are bestfor you. However, you will not be able to unlock every ability on the skill trees, so you will want to pick what suits you the most and get any extras once you have your base build down.It does cost money to change your abilities if you find yourself unhappy, but it’s not much, and you absolutely should if you want to do something else.
Avowed
Avowed is an upcoming RPG release from Obsidian Entertainment, the creative minds behind Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds. Avowed will reportedly take place in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity.
I Already Beat Avowed, & I’m Begging You To Find All The Ancient Memories
A lot of Avowed’s side content is pertinent to the main story, but none more so than the Ancient Memories, which everyone should seek out.
On the Fighter side, depending on what you want your focus to be, you don’t need to look in many different places. As a multiclass build, you will have to decide what you want your main weapon to be, and then decide if you want a shield or a wand or whatever. The Fighter tree emphasizes your shield, blocking, heavy armor and weapons, and your health and stamina.

Barbaric Shout
5
This allows you to deal a higher Stun damage and your weapon attacks are uninterruptable.

Constant Recovery
Immediately
After taking damage, slowly regenerate the last amount of Health lost.
Retribution
15
After taking damage from an enemy, your next attack will do damage proportional to what you received.

Clear Out
20
An active ability that cannot be interrupted and hitting all of the enemies.

I ignored anything that had to do with two-handed melee weapons and things that depended on a specific weapon. Most of the heavier weapons are not meant for the Wizard class,so I focused on abilities that gave bigger stat boosts and potential stuns. For an active ability,I find Barbaric Shout to be a better early game than Charge, while Clear Out can likely replace it later.
For the Wizard class, I would focus on the Wand and Grimoire abilities.Making your Wand your main ranged weapon will work the best, as none of the Fighter abilities will increase Gun damage. A Grimoire can also sit in your off-hand with your Wand, giving you access to four spells that can supplement your abilities. I would also find a spell you like that works best and pick that one. There are manygood spells inAvowed, but for the early game,Bristling Frost or Arcane Veil will work best for a Fighter multiclass.

The reason for those two spells is that they are both defensive, one is a shield, and one damages enemies that enter melee-range from you. Later in the game,Ring of Fire or Arcane Sealwill do similar things. The defensive spells work best with this build because you will be in close-range more often than Wizards who are not Fighters.
These are the abilities I would prioritize from the Wizard class:

Blast
Power Attacks with your wand will have Explosive and Stun damage.
Armored Essence
Decreases the Essence penalty for Light and Medium armor - only take this if you are using either.
Lastly, I would pick one of the“Spirit of X” abilities, whichever you find works best for your build. The weapon you choose to stick it out with will affect this as well, as that will determine which element works best with it.

What Stats Will Work Best
For this multiclass, the stats you want are fairly clear. You will want to put themost points into Intelligence and Might, which will affect the amount of Essence you have and the Damage you can do. After that,Dexterity is probably the next highest priorityso you can keep on your feet, but I would focus on those two before doing so.
For other situations, I have run into dialogue options featuringResolve and Perceptionthe most. Constitution pops up occasionally, but not quite as much. It is up to you which direction you choose to go from the role-playing perspective, but you should know that you cannot get through the entire game without fighting at some level,as there are main quests that will require you to clear the enemiesout of the way first.

All The Gear Your Build Needs
Again, there are a lot of options here, and it depends on just how you want to situate your build. When I was testing some things out for this build, I ended up with asword and shield in one slot and a wand and Grimoire in the other. Early in the game, you may find unique weapons like Last Light Of Day and Minoletta’s Conduit to serve as your main weapons.Beothel’s Grimoire and Nature’s Wardwere some off-hand weapons I found early that I liked as well.
Later game, things likeEilara’s Grimoire or Od Caura’s Grimoirecould be a very good choice. A sword like Meteor Blade or Ondra’s Offense could work very well, as they both have elemental damage attached to them. I personally liked Giant’s Slumber a lot, although it does take a lot of effort to acquire it, you will come across it in the main quest. TheWhisper of Exiles is a mid-to-late game wandthat works really well, and that I found very useful.

Tree of Life is a reward forcompleting the bounties in Fior mes Iverno, and I thought it worked well for this build as it helps regenerate some health, and it reduces elemental damage from elsewhere. I used Heavy Armor for most of the game. I focused on the Obsidian Order Cuirass which was part of the pre-order because I liked the stats, but you can find afull set of armorin the Emerald stairs from one of the bounties.
That armor is theTranton Family Brigandine, and it has fairly comparable stats. I traded the boot out for mine as it worked really well. Something like Faith and Conviction will regain your Essence, keeping your spells ready to go. you may get theSteel Garrote Plate armor in Dawnshore in the Nacib boss location, which could also be a good choice. Late-game, the Lava-Forged Plate armor could give you a real boost and add to your Elemental damage.
How To Play A Fighter Wizard Multiclass Build
Tips & Tricks For This Build
This is an interesting build because you are going to want to switchbetween melee and ranged attacks quite frequently. Abilities that Stun the enemy are going to be the best choice, as you can thenback up and deal a lot of damage with a spell or start using your wand.
Alternatively, you can focus on spells that give you a lot of defense. You can get aGrimoire of Defensethat will give you a fair amount of spells to help shield you and deal damage to enemies as they attack you. These spells will likely be your best bet in this build,as they are more passive effectsthat you do not have to control as much.
Overall, this will be a fairly tanky build with a lot of elemental damage. Your biggest threat will be fast or ranged enemies that you may’t parry or guard fast enough.Use your companions to help mitigate some of that damage, but you should be fairly well off with this one. It’s one of the best and highest damage-dealing builds inAvowed.
