The digital and physical media release dates forAlien: Romulushave been revealed. The new sci-fi horror sequel, which is the ninth installment in the long-running franchise, was directed by Fede Álvarez and follows a crew of young people attempting to steal cryo equipment from an abandoned space station, only to find themselves face to face with the deadly Xenomorph. TheAlien: Romuluscastis led by Cailee Spaeny and also includes David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
20th Century Studioshas announced thatAlien: Romuluswill come to the VOD retailers Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home on October 15. It will also be available on that day in a digital bundle with the original bundle in a 2-movie package celebratingAlien’s 45th anniversary. This will be followed bythe physical media release ofRomuluson 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 3. The Movie Will Be Leaving Theaters After A Landmark Run
The official announcement of both the digital and physical dates for the movie show that theAlien: Romulusreleaseisfinally beginning to wind down in theaters. The movie has become a hit in the six weeks since its release, making $342.1 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $80 million and landing at No. 10 on the chart of the highest-grossing movies of the year so far. It is also the second highest-grossing movie in the franchise at the time of writing.
So far,Romulushas only been outgrossed by 2012’sPrometheus, which earned $403.3 million worldwide.

However, theatrical releases do eventually come to an end, and the announcement of these dates seems to reflect that 20th Century Studios and its parent company Disney areconfident in the heights that the movie has reachedduring its time in theaters thus far.
