DC Comics has launched a radically new interpretation ofBatman– and now the creator ofAbsolute Batmanhas revealed one of the inspirations behind the Absolute Batmobile. The Batmobile is one of the aspects of the Dark Knight’s lore that fans are most eager to get a new version of, and according to Scott Snyder, his book is going to deliver.

Absolute Batman#1 – written by Scott Snyder, with art by Nick Dragotta – was an immediate hit, making many fun and exciting changes to elements of Batman’s mythology, such as keeping his mother alive and removing his wealth. However, the one major thing that fans have yet to see in action is AbsoluteBatman’s version of the Batmobile.

The Cult Batmobile

While the Absolute Batmobile has yet to make an appearance, readers have been shown a glance, and some fans noticed a major resemblance – which Snyder confirmed was a nod toThe Cult, a classicBatmanseries.

Some fans on Twitter were quick to note that the Absolute version of the Batmobile bears a striking resemblance to the Batmobile used inBatman: The Cult. While this could’ve simply been a passing similarity, it was a pleasant surprise to learnScott Snyder is indeed a big fan ofBatman: The Cult, as he confirmed on Twitter/X. This is an exciting callback in the midst of so much radical redefinition of the Caped Crusader’s classic elements, one that ties this interpretation of the character back to the franchise’s roots in a sublte, but impressive way.

Absolute Batman Just Made The Dark Knight Rises' Flaming Bat Symbol Look Pathetic

Absolute Batman creates an epic flaming symbol, which surpasses Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” scene and kickstarts his career as the Caped Crusader.

Scott Snyder changed Batman’s history a lot when he revealed that Bruce is no longer a multi-billionaire. Instead, he’s a simple city engineer. He has no infinite wealth or mass resources to call on. This means, his Batmobile isn’t the technological and militarized marvel of the Prime Universe. Instead, Bruce will have to use whatever he has access to in order to buildthe best possible Batmobile, and that seemingly means creating one out of a massive dump truck. While this oversized Batmobile might seem ridiculous, it’s not the first time Batman has done something like this.

Batman: The Cultwas a pretty dark story. It involved a cult led by Deacon Blackfire taking over Gotham City and even successfully running Batman out of Gotham. When Batman finally made his grand return to retake his city, he did so in a brand-new version of the Batmobile. SinceDeacon Blackfire made Batman break his rules, Bruce decided to go all out for his return to Gotham City;this included him arriving in Gotham in a giant monster truck that was transformed into a new version of the Batmobile. It was perhaps the largest Batmobile in history, until now.

Only time will tell if this new Batmobile will be the biggest that Batman has ever had.

There have been manydifferent versions of the Batmobileover the years, some more tank-like than others, and some more sleek. Some have even just been regular cars. Yet the biggest version of the Batmobile was always the one seen inBatman: The Cult.It seems that Scott Snyder took direct inspiration from this, as he set out to create an even bigger Batmobile inAbsolute Batman#2. Only time will tell if this new Batmobile will be the biggest thatBatmanhas ever had.
