Summary
Even since its beta release,The First Descendanthas had plenty of characters that players love to hate. One of the primary examples is Jeremy, aDescendant whose unique Arche abilityis teleportation. Right from the start, Jeremy makes himself an annoyance to work with, making it clear that he does not like the player. This makes his eventual betrayal an incredibly predictable twist.
While telegraphed narrative turns are often a problem because they are too heavily foreshadowed, one of the story beats in Jeremy’s journey is a problem because it is not foreshadowed enough. Namely, the player character plays along with Jeremy’s insistence to leave him alone with the Ironheart. This is despite the fact that Jeremy has already been shown to ignore orders and try to get the player killed. The First Descendantcharactersshould know better than to leave him with such an important artifact, but the player must, for the sake of the plot.

The First Descendant Character Tier List
Players should prioritize building and investing in the top-tier characters in The First Descendant, all of which are ranked right here.
Jeremy’s Betrayal Is Too Easy To See Coming
He Is Combative From His Introduction
From his introduction, Jeremy makes it clear that he is not a fan of the player, and is generally not a fan of the other Descendants, either. He is one of the few Descendants who is unable to talk to or see the Guide, and it is clear from his hostile attitude toward the concept thathe isjealous of those who are able to communicate with her. This jealousy paves the way for his disloyalty later, and his hostile intent only grows as the player gains more success in their quest to find the Ironheart.
During the missions where Jeremy talks to the player, he makes it clear that he actually hopes the Descendant gets killed during their missions, likely to avoid hearing more praise for other people. The aggressive attitude eventually turns to action asJeremy abandons his duties in the middle of a mission. When he finally returns to HQ, he is slapped by Alpha, one of the few Descendants who could relate to Jeremy due to not seeing the Guide either.

The First Descendant Players Are Forced To Play The Role Of The Fool
Jeremy Can’t Be Stopped Even Though His Betrayal Is Obvious
With all his past actions in mind,it becomes clear that Jeremy is going to betray humanity. If anything, the real twist would have been Jeremy changing his ways and eventually earning the ability to see the Guide like the other Descendants. Instead of this route, however, he shows up at the end of the “Shelter” operation to tell the player to “get reinforcements.”
The player is forced to watch their Descendant ignore all the red flags of the situation and return to Albion. All of Jeremy’s actions onscreen have shown that he is not exactly a team player, and the Descendants should all know it. Jeremy’s actions repeatedly prove he can’t be trusted with even standard missions and assignments, let alone with the most valuable artifact on Ingris. Since Jeremy’s power is teleportation, a much better solution would have been to have the Descendant attempt to stop him, only for Jeremy to teleport away with the Ironheart inThe First Descendant.
