Invincible’scomedy is one of the most underrated aspects of the franchise, and the show hasn’t been afraid to use certain characters almost entirely for comic relief. Throughout the first three seasons, there has been no shortage of humorous moments, with the series finding plenty of time for light-hearted jokes in among the action. However, afterInvincibleseason 3’s violent and brutal finale, it’s clear the stakes will only continue to rise, suggesting there could be a potential shift in tone. Luckily, comedy is still a massive part of the show’s identity, meaningInvincible’s iconic gags will continue.

Even with the latest installment arguably being the most serious outing yet,Invincibleseason 3 dropped its best title gagand featured plenty of hilarious characters, indicating that there will still be time for silly scenes in the future. As a result, secondary heroes and villains will continue getting screen time despite their minor role in the story. Heroes like Mark and Allen still provide plenty of funny moments, but they ultimately have a wider importance to the overall plot. In contrast, other characters are designed simply to make the audience laugh, and these eight have played their roles perfectly.

8Killcannon

The Recurring Villain Has Been A Punching Bag For New Heroes

Killcannon has been used on a handful of occasions throughoutInvincible, and each cameo proves just how useless he truly is. Despite his unique appearance and powerful weapon, the villain never succeeds in his plans and is often foiled by novice heroes. He gave Mark his first real victory after adopting the Invincible mantle and even a young Atom Eve managed to take him down. None of this seems to knock Killcannon’s confidence though, as he continues to be naively ambitious.

He has mainly been a punching bag for the central characters with his overconfidence causing plenty of laughs.

Even after several defeats,Killcannon attempted to break into the Teen Team HQ on his own only to be apprehended by Eve,although he did cause a few injuries. While his most recent fight with Eve was somewhat emotional, he has mainly been a punching bag for the central characters with his overconfidence causing plenty of laughs, which has been a constant for Killcannon in the comics and even Atom Eve’s video game, making him the tutorial villain forInvincible’s new heroes.

7The Giant

The Giant’s Young Mind Makes Him A Hilarious Adversary

Although the Giant debuted as a minor antagonist, he transitioned into a GDA asset used to help test the protagonist’s abilities, and while theGiant returned as Mark’s ally inInvincibleseason 3, his role in the series has remained a comedic one. His first appearance saw him take on the Guardians of the Globe, and although his size allowed him to cause some real destruction, his childish mind proved he wasn’t a real threat.

He got upset while being insulted and claimed he wanted to be the President of the United States and an astronaut, suggesting he didn’t need to be taken too seriously.Likewise, his training fight saw him celebrate too early after believing he’d beaten Mark, confirming his involvement in the show constantly gives viewers something to laugh at.The fact that an eight-year-old suffers such a condition may be tragic, butInvincibleexpertly turns this into something funny and light-hearted, making the Giant the perfect comic relief character.

6Octoboss

The Villain’s Silly Way Of Speaking Makes Him Far Less Menacing

Season 2 continuedInvincible’s trend of silly villains as Octoboss gave Rex a well-deserved win, alongside viewers a hilarious new villain.Despite his intimidating demeanor and combat capabilities, Octoboss surprised Rex and the audience when he first opened his mouth.

Rather than having some menacing and intimidating voice, his words came out in the completely wrong order, making even Rex laugh at his humorous dialog.

The antagonist did still cause the Guardians of the Globe member problems and proved to be a fairly formidable opponent, but his single appearance in the series so far has made Octoboss more memorable for his struggles learning English, rather than his threat to Earth. He also helped withRex Splode’s redemption inInvincible, as the fight strengthened Rex and Mark’s compassionate side while showing the hero’s maturity, but Octoboss was mainly used to provide the audience with laughs and will likely do the same if he ever returns.

5Supreme Lizard

The Former Lizard League Leader Was Way Out Of His Depth

Supreme Lizard’s one and only appearance may have ended rather tragically for the former Lizard League leader, but his time on the show made him one ofInvincible’s biggest joke characters. With King Lizard in jail, Supreme Lizard took control of the villainous group and instantly tried to take down a bio research lab but was easily thwarted by the Guardians of the Globe, despite the superhero team being full of new recruits.

Invincible Repeats A Great Joke From Season 2 & It’s Even Funnier The Second Time

Invincible’s humor is one of the show’s strongest aspects, and the continuation of a season 2 gag was even more effective the second time around.

Supreme Lizard clearly wasn’t supposed to be anything other than fodder in the series, serving as an introduction to King Lizard, who shot the comedic character at the end of season 2, episode 2.While this was a shocking moment, it was the only time a scene involving Supreme Lizard felt like anything other than a gag.Even his speech to his followers saw him admitting to his shortcomings and essentially brainwashing the squad while the Lizard League’s other senior members cringed behind him, highlighting his goofy nature.

4Doc Seismic

Doc Seismic’s Frequent Defeats Often Provide Plenty Of Laughs

While Doc Seismic was given a surprisingly big role in season 3’s premiere,he has long been used to provide comedy throughout the series, withInvincible’s main characters getting sick of his constant schemes. Having featured several times in the opening two seasons, Doc Seismic appeared to be that one villain that would never go away, constantly returning with a new plan to trouble Mark and Eve, who have defeated him time and time again.

He was still ultimately beaten once more and continues to be insulted by the central heroes.

His progressive attitude and environmental abilities add some irony to his heinous crimes, and even thoughDoc Seismic did get an upgrade inInvincibleseason 3, he was still ultimately beaten once more and continues to be insulted by the central heroes. He may be more powerful than ever and a genuine threat these days, but he is still portrayed as a mad scientist with resentment towards the modern societal system and deep philosophical views, giving the audience a chance to laugh, even as he tries to kill the show’s protagonists.

3Elephant

Even Invincible Calls Out How Harmless Elephant Is

Alongside his name and costume being pretty ridiculous,Elephant is also treated as a joke byInvincibleand its characters, proving he is there simply to be laughed at. He has only ever made minor appearances, but he’s always been seen as a very low-tier threat, and more of a training dummy than a genuine villain.Season 3 even confirmed Elephant isInvincible’s biggest joke villaincanonically, as Mark made Oliver fight him to test himself, knowing the risk of damage was minimal.

Mark also fought Elephant when he first started as part of his training by Omni-Man, proving the character is used by heroes to improve their skills and get a feel for fighting crime. It actually helps explain why such an incompetent criminal isn’t in jail, as it’s probably more valuable to let him commit meaningless crimes before being foiled easily than it is to cost taxpayers' money by locking him up. Regardless, each scene portrays Elephant as a harmless gag, and he’s unlikely to follow in Doc Seismic’s footsteps by getting stronger any time soon.

2Shapesmith

The Guardians Of The Globe Hero Always Seems To Lighten The Mood

Most ofInvincible’s comic relief characters tend to be on the wrong side of the law, but one of the show’s funniest characters actually made it onto the Guardians of the Globe’s roster.Shapesmith’s introduction set him up as a plucky underdog, constantly trying to do good, and constantly messing up. His journey since has never really wavered, as his positive attitude is every bit as infectious as it is hilarious, making him one of the most hilarious characters on the show.

Invincible Season 3 Has Finally Stopped Ignoring Season 2’s Best New Hero

Invincible season 2 introduced one of the show’s best superheroes, but after being sidelined in season 3, episode 6 finally gave them the spotlight.

While Rex and Allen are also heroes who often provide humor, their stories are much more layered and detailed, whereas Shapesmith is almost always used for comedy purposes. Sure, his clumsy nature has led to big plot moments on occasion, butShapesmith’s lack of understanding when it comes to human formalities makes him the perfect candidate to add some ill-timed comments or bizarre impersonations that create a light-hearted tone, even in tragic circumstances.

1Ka-Hor

Ka-Hor’s Random Appearances Make Him Invincible’s Ultimate Gag

Out of allInvincible’s joke characters, Ka-Hor is perhaps the biggest as he exists solely for the purpose of continuing a long-running gag.The ancient figure never appeared in the source material. Instead, he has been used to bring some big actors into the show while creating a side plot that could go anywhere. Ka-Hor first appeared in season 1 and was hyped up to be some sinister villain who was finally freed from his tomb, only to be trapped once again shortly after being released.

Season 2 followed up on the gag by having him be freed by two adventurers, but Ka-Hor refused to possess them simply because they were women and he wanted a male host.Invincibleseason 3 continued the mummy jokeonce more by having Ka-Hor attempt to attach himself to an Invincible variant, only to be foiled before scurrying back to his tomb. Despite his reputation, Ka-Hor has been nothing but a joke throughoutInvincible, and every time he appears there is almost guaranteed to be humor, making him the show’s best joke character.
