Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Yellowstone season 5, episode 14, “Life Is a Promise.”
TheYellowstoneseason 5 finale was written to be a series finale, meaning the episode concludes with satisfying endings for many characters that are also new beginnings and great ideas for spinoffs. Paramount previously announced that the fifth season of Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western drama would serve as its swan song. However, in the weeks leading up to its last episode, the network marketed it as a “season” finale instead of a “series” finale, leading many to believe thatYellowstoneseason 6 was happening. Unfortunately, season 6’s status is up in the air, but spinoffs are still possible.

The future ofYellowstone(the TV show, not the franchise) remains unclear shortly following its season 5 finale, as Paramount hasn’t commented on its status. But, characters like Beth and Rip will be seen again in the future, while others' fates are unknown.
DuringYellowstoneseason 5, episode 14, “Life Is a Promise,” Kayce’s plan to save the ranch comes to fruition. However, while his proposal is brilliant, it also means that the Duttons must give away their land, which is exactly what they do. As a result, most of the characters move on from the Yellowstone Dutton Ranchin Paradise Valley by the time the hour comes to a close, including the family, the cowboys, and the cowgirls. Watching everyone leave the ranch is sad, but it also means they can start new journeys, all of which could be documented inYellowstonespinoffs.

6Beth & Rip’s Dillon, Montana Spinoff
Kelly Reilly & Cole Hauser Are Confirmed To Return
The most obvious spinoff that theYellowstoneseason 5 finale sets up is Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler’s. Shortly before the premiere of “Life Is a Promise,“Deadlineconfirmed thatthe Rip and BethYellowstonespinoff series, which has been rumored for months, is officially a go with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser set to reprise their roles from the original show. Then, episode 14 perfectly lays the groundwork for the next chapter in Beth and Rip’s lives.

After finally killing her brother, Jamie, andwinning the Dutton family war inYellowstone,Beth leaves the ranch she has called home her entire life and moves to Dillon, Montana, with Rip and Carter. Beth buys property in Dillon, which is located two hours away from the Yellowstone. There, Beth, Rip, and Carter create a new home for themselves, away from tourists, and start a new ranch. So, it’s clear thatRip and Beth’sYellowstonespinoff will revolve around their new life in Dillon.Based on the finale, Carter should be alongside them in the upcoming show, but Finn Little’s return hasn’t been confirmed.
During an interview withPEOPLEahead ofthe premiere of theYellowstoneseries finale,Hauser discussed the Beth and Rip spinoff. The actor explained how he will miss the original cast but is excited about the future, but remained mum on specific details. Hauser said:
“We will see what happens over the next year or so, and we’ll see what’s next. Hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years.”
5Teeter Spinoff In Texas
Travis Hires Teeter In The Yellowstone Season 5 Finale
OnceColby died inYellowstoneseason 5, episode 12, it was only a matter of time before Teeter moved on from the Montana ranch, even if the Duttons didn’t have to sell it. The Yellowstone just has too many memories tied to Colby. So, Teeter asking Travis Wheatley for a job at Bosque Ranch during the finale wasn’t unsurprising. Unfortunately, for her, it comes with a price, seeing as Travis is a conceited jerk (which is a nice way of describingTaylor Sheridan’sYellowstonerolewithout cursing). But, perhaps,Teeter’s move to Texas will result in a spinoff featuring the former Yellowstone ranch hand.
Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 14 Review: Taylor Sheridan’s Predictable Finale Is A Devastating Emotional Letdown
The Yellowstone season 5 finale is evidently supposed to serve as a series finale, but the show’s last episode, “Life Is a Promise,” falls flat.
Teeter could easily join the cast of6666, aYellowstonespinoffrevolving around the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, alongside Jimmy Hurdstrom, who also works for Travis.6666has been in the works for years, with little to no updates on its progress. However, now thatYellowstoneis (potentially) over, Sheridan might finally get the ball rolling regarding6666and add Teeter to its list of characters. She is currently working for Travis at Bosque Ranch, butTeeter and Jimmy could easily transfer to the Four Sixes Ranchto make their involvement in the spinoff possible.
4Kayce’s East Camp Spinoff
Kayce, Monica, & Tate Start A New Ranch
Instead ofgoing ahead withYellowstoneseason 6,Taylor Sheridan could simply create a new series following Kayce’s next journey at East Campin Paradise Valley. As a part of Kayce’s deal with Chief Rainwater, he and his family are permitted to keep their home on the Yellowstone’s property, where they will seemingly start their own ranch. Kayce, Monica, and Tate are making a name for themselves, and it would be interesting to see how their upcoming venture plays out.
Of course, sinceKayce and his family still technically live on the Yellowstone’s property,Paramount might just greenlight season 6, featuring the return of Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille. It would make sense within the story’s context. However, if Sheridan and Paramount are truly ready to move on fromYellowstone(the show) but don’t want to say goodbye to Kayce, they could develop a spinoff focusing on him and his family.
3Broken Rock Reservation Spinoff
Chief Rainwater Buys The Yellowstone At The End Of Season 5
In a similar vein to Kayce’s potential spinoff, Paramount and Taylor Sheridan could go ahead withYellowstoneseason 6 andfocus on the new owners of the ranch — Chief Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation. However, with them as the focus, it would be a completely different TV show. Consequently, it might be a better idea to order a spinoff chronicling what comes next for Chief Rainwater and his people now that they have taken back their ancestors' land.
However, a spinoff centering around the Broken Rock Reservation would be more than welcome, especially because Chief Rainwater and the tribe members had little screen time inYellowstoneseason 5, part 2.
Theending ofYellowstonecould be just that; an ending. Sheridan’s neo-Western drama has always been about the Duttons, andif the family is no longer at the forefront of the story, it’s notYellowstoneanymore. However, a spinoff centering around the Broken Rock Reservation would be more than welcome, especially because Chief Rainwater and the tribe members had little screen time inYellowstoneseason 5, part 2.
2Ryan & Abby Spinoff
Ryan Reunites With Abby After Leaving The Ranch
The ranch hands go their separate ways bythe end of theYellowstoneseason 5 finale, with some seeking work and others returning to what makes them happy. For Ryan, that’s Abby. As some may remember, Ryan and Abby met during the season 5 premiere. Unfortunately, the couple split when Ryan chose to return to his life at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch and Abby resumed her life as a musician on the road. The good news, though, is thatRyan finds Abby on tour and convinces her to take him back after one of her concertsduring the show’s ending.
Ryan chooses not to find other cowboy work after leaving the Yellowstone. Instead, he follows his heart, which leads him to Abby, and the twoYellowstoneseason 5 charactersride off into the sunset together in episode 14. However, maybe this isn’t the final chapter of their story.Ryan and Abby’s reunion could result in a spinoff revolving around her music careerand their relationship. Lainey Wilson, who plays Abby, is obviously very busy being a real country music star, but one can dream of seeing Ryan and Abby back on the small screen.
1Laramie’s Rodeo Career Spinoff
Walker Will Accompany Laramie After Leaving The Yellowstone
One of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments ofYellowstoneseason 5, episode 14, is Walker and Laramie’s next steps after leaving the ranch.Laramie plans on returning to rodeo life, and Walker will be by his girlfriend’s side. The couple didn’t have much of a roleinYellowstoneseason 5, part 2, and Taylor Sheridan could make up for their glaring absences by giving Walker and Laramie their very own spinoff. Laramie working on her rodeo career and Walker supporting her could make for some good TV. However, given their lack of screen time, their spinoff is least likely to happen.

Abby
A spinoff following Walker and Laramie could be easily obtained, though — at least, regarding the actors' schedules. TheYellowstoneseason 5, part 2 cast memberswho play Walker and Laramie, Ryan Bingham and Hassie Harrison, are married in real life. Whatever the case, even if Walker and Laramie don’t get their ownYellowstonespinoff, the couple could briefly pop up in other shows, like Beth and Rip’s, to update the audience on their lives after leaving the ranch.
