Jujutsu Kaisenis one of the most popular recent shonen series, but not every character is appreciated equally. Standouts like Gojo Satoru and Yuji Itadori have become cultural icons who are well-known even outside the anime fandom. Their tremendous strength, jaw-dropping powers, distinct character designs, and remarkable personalities have helped them become long-lasting heroes, butthey are not the only characters in the story who matter.

There are hundreds of interesting characters to appreciate inJujutsu Kaisen, beyond the select few who have become iconic. These lesser known heroes and villains have played key roles in various arcs, andmany of them are unfortunately underutilized in the story. No matter how brief their appearance inJujutsu Kaisen, the series would not be the same without those more obscure characters who sometimes fade into the background, but in actuality, deserved more acclaim and screen time than they received.

Jujutsu-Kaisen-Strongest-Curses

10Hanami

Hanami Loves the Planet and Fights To Protect It With a One of a Kind Nature Technique

Hanami is one ofJujutsu Kaisen’svillainous Disaster Curses with some unbelievable nature-related powers.Hanami’s will is nearly unshakable because of how much they despise humans. They have witnessed the destruction humanity has wreaked on the earth and nature and understandably developed a passionate grudge against them.

Jujutsu Kaisen: 10 Strongest Curses, Ranked

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, dangerous spirits take on strange and hideous forms, turning into strong opponents. But which curse is the strongest?

Hanami was eventually killed by Gojo, but before their death, they made a massive impact on the series that deserves recognition. Theyfought some of the series' strongest sorcerers, including Gojo, Yuji, and Todo, and held their own. Their nature-themed character design, Disaster Plants Innate Technique, and surprisingly rational desire to protect the planet makes them one of the series' best villains.

9Miwa Kasumi

Miwa Is One of the Most Tenacious Characters in the Entire Series, Even Boldly Fighting Kenjaku

Miwa is not the most physically powerfulJujutsu Kaisensorcerer, but she still works hard. Her New Shadow Style technique and skill with her weapon of choice: a katana, allow her to defend herself against most threats. Sadly, she is portrayedby the fandom, and even, at times, the story, as useless.

Miwa has lost quite a few battles. For example, she was nearly obliterated by Maki Zenin. In the end, herfight with Kenjaku forcibly removed all her powers because she sacrificed themin a failed final attempt to defeat him. Her appearance inJujutsu Kaisenmight have been short-lived, but Miwa’s drive and kindness make her a memorable hero. She fought passionately until the last moment, and even though she did not win, it is hard to forget her valiant efforts so easily.

8Mechamaru/Kokichi

Kokichi Died Prematurely, Before He Could Even Fully Use His New Body

OneJujutsu Kaisencharacterwho definitelydeserved more screen time is Mechamaru, also known as Kokichi Muta. Kokichi’s physical body is very weak, so he utilizes a robot titled Ultimate Mechamaru to fight. He went to desperate lengths to heal his feeble body, even making a deal with the Disaster Curses, which led to his demise.

When the Curses struck back against Kokichi and his classmates, he fought with all his might to protect himself and his loved ones with his new body. Mahito and Geto killed him fairly early on in season two of the series, leaving him with little time to explore and enhance the power of his new, healed body. Had Mechamaru stayed alive longer,he could have accomplished even greater feats with his resolve and cleverness, but his last battle sealed his tragic fate.

7Shoko Ieiri

Shoko Is a Doctor Who Has Saved Countless Lives, Fighting Behind the Scenes To Aid Fellow Sorcerers

Shoki Ieiri may not be one for combat, butshe proves her strength and relevance to the story in other ways. She serves as Jujutsu High’s doctor, healing and caring for the other sorcerers who do fight on the front lines against curses. Shoko is well-versed in biology, proficient at using Reverse Cursed Technique for healing purposes, and her work has saved many lives.

15 Strongest Jujutsu Kaisen Women, Ranked

One of Jujutsu Kaisen’s greatest accomplishments is its impressive cast of powerful women, and ten in particular stand out among the bunch.

Since the ability to use RCT is so rare, Shoko is invaluable to Jujutsu High and her comrades, who frequently become grievously injured in battle. Lives such as Kiyotaka Ijichi’s and Takuma Ino’s were protected thanks to Shoko’s vast knowledge and RCT, and she also passed on this intelligence to others, teaching sorcerers like Gojo how to use RCT too. Although not a combatant,Shoko is a vital aspect of the series because of her efforts behind the scenes.

6Mai Zenin

Mai Works Around Her Low Cursed Energy and Even Protected Her Sister’s Life

Of the Zenin sisters, Mai is the lesser known, playing a smaller role in the series than her sister, Maki. Both her and Maki grew up in the same oppressive Zenin clan, but chose very different paths for their lives. While Maki rebelled and went off on her own, Mai wanted to abide by the clan’s rules, but became a sorcerer anyway.

Although she is not the most skilled sorcerer, with pitifully low cursed energy, Mai finds ways to work around this deficiency. Mai’s talent with a gun is unmatched, so she relies on this weapon rather than simply using her weak Cursed Energy and technique. Despite Mai’s rivalry with Maki, sheallowed her own father to kill herto save her sister in the end, a heart-wrenching sacrifice that makes her a character who can’t be forgotten.

5Yuki Tsukumo

Yuki Uses Her Shikigami, Garuda, Cleverly, Giving Her One of the Series’ Coolest Fighting Styles

As a special grade jujutsu sorcerer, Yuki is one of the series' most powerful fighters. She fights uniquely, using a shikigami named Garuda. With her Star Rage Innate Technique,Yuki can imbue the being with Cursed Energy and thus, pull off mightier attacksthan she would have been able to on her own.

Sadly, Yuki was killed by Kenjaku, like so many others, but she did not go down without a fight. She was transformed into a black hole, as her own technique ironically turned against her. Despite this unfortunate mishap, Yuki deserves to be remembered as one of the series' most courageous heroes, who never backed down from a challenge andpossessedone ofJujutsu Kaisen’scoolest techniques.

4Toge Inumaki

Toge Did Not Fight After the Shibuya Incident Arc, Never Reaching His Full Potential

Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Technique is one of the most intriguing and unmatched inJujutsu Kaisen. The semi-grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer utilizesCursed Speech, which allows him to attack with only his voice. As can be imagined, this ability is unstoppable, allows for many creative uses, and can be fatal.

During the Shibuya Incident arc, Toge was seriously injured, losing an arm. Many fans were very disappointed to seeToge disappear from the story after this fightbecause he seemed tohave so much potential. With his genius power, Toge could have been vital in the final fights of the series, so it is a shame he is mostly absent after the Shibuya Incident arc.

3Junpei Yoshino

Junpei Died Far Too Soon, Killed by the Cruel Cursed Spirit, Mahito

Junpei’s character arc is one of the most saddeninginJujutsu Kaisen.Since he was bullied and mistreated, he developed a seething grudge against everyone surrounding him. Disgustingly, the Cursed Spirit, Mahito, exploited Junpei’s weaknessesand convinced him he was helping, when he was the one to kill Junpei in the end.

Not being able to save Junpei continued to haunt Yuji for years, motivating him to ensure no one else suffered the same fate. Junpei’s life was finally turning around when he met Yuji and found his first real friend, but his dreams were quickly dashed. One can only imagine how amazing of a fighter and wonderful of a personJunpei could have become had Mahito not ended his lifeso suddenly.

2Todo Aoi

After the Shibuya Incident Arc, Todo Sadly Pretty Much Disappears From the Story

Todo Aoi, Yuji’s self-proclaimed “best friend”, is one of the series' fan-favorite characters. From his eccentric personality and love for the idol, Takada, to his remarkable Boogie Woogie clapping technique and Black Flash, he is an unforgettable hero. Todo played amajor role in some ofJujutsu Kaisen’sbest battles, including the final fight against Mahito.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Big Fan-Favorite Character’s Return Happened At The Worst Time

Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest chapter brings back the series' most iconic duo but in a controversial manner that ruins one crucial character’s death.

After his phenomenal teamwork with Yuju in the Shibuya Incident arc, fans were eager to see the hero fight again. Sadly, this fight not only caused him to lose a hand, butwas the last time fans saw him until nearly the end of the series. Todo could have used his powers effectively in various battles, but he became unfortunately underutilized in the rest ofJujutsu Kaisen, only jumping back into the action at the tail end of the series.

1Jogo

Jogo Is One ofJujutsu Kaisen’sBest and Mightiest Cursed Spirits, Who Was Unfortunately Killed by Sukuna

Jogo isone ofJujutsu Kaisen’sbest villainswho has fought some of the most experienced sorcerers. Of the Disaster Curses, he is one of the strongest, with a power level equal to that of eight or nine of Sukuna’s fingers. He pulls off visually stunning attacks using fire and volcanic lava, his domain is nearly undefeatable, and he fought Gojo multiple times.

Most Cursed Spirits are nowhere near Jogo’s level, and had Sukuna not killed him, he likely would’ve caused much more damage. Fans appreciate Jogo for his impressive abilities, quick thinking, and undoubtedly cool character design. It is a shame he died during the Shibuya Incident arc, because considering how steadily his power grew from the beginning of the series to that point, had he continued training, he could’ve become nearly invincible.
