Witchbrookreleased a new trailer during March’sNintendo Directthat shows off a lot of the new features that players can expect when playing the game. Chucklefish has been mostly silent about the development ofWitchbrook, so those in the cozy game community should be happy to know that it wasn’t silently canceled. There are a bunch of features being showcased in the trailer that are exciting to see.
Despite the trailer, there are probably plenty of people wondering ifWitchbrookwill actually come out in 2025. The trailer confirmed a Winter 2025 release window, but that could always be delayed. For now, fans can see plenty of details and gameplay from the trailerthat should make them excited about what’s supposed to come this year.

10There Will Be Flying Brooms
Players Can Fly Across The Sky on Brooms
Witchbrookis bringing in flying brooms, which most cozy fans will love. Every magic game should have this feature, and it works well for just hanging out. The ability to soar over rooftops and go further faster is very cool, but based on the ChucklefishYouTubetrailer, it seems like the game will avoid any kind of colliding, so there’s no need to worry about a character getting cut by a windmill.
There was a class to teach the player how to make a broom fly, and it looked eerily familiar. It reminds me of the scene where Harry Potter is learning to raise his own broom inHarry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone. There seems to be a small gag where the teacher is surprised everyone can do it. Either way, it’s clearthe class teaches players how to ride a broom, and then they do that.

9Four-Player Co-Op Is Coming
Play With Up To Three Friends
While it is seemingly not shown inWitchbrook’strailer, the description for it confirms that four-player co-op will be available. At one point in the trailer, the character’s name is visible, which is likely part of the co-op experience. The town seems big enough for four players, but how that would work with classes would need to be ironed out.
10 Cozy Games On Nintendo Switch You Should Still Be Playing In 2025
The new year is here, but there are still plenty of cozy games that were released in 2024 for the Nintendo Switch that are worth your attention.
It is very likely thatthe other four just help the main player out with whatever they are doing.Stardew Valleydid this really well, but mostly because there’s a lot of freedom.Witchbrookseems to have missions and quests which would get in the way of other players trying to do their own thing. However, it could be similar with the mission only affecting one player, but since little confirmation is given in the trailer, fans will have to wait for more information.

8Charming Seaside Setting (Mossport)
The Magic School Is Next To A Lot of Water
There are some hints of the seaside described in the description shown in the trailer forWitchbrook, but the town of Mossport is pretty interesting. It’s a town thathas modern amenities, like a bookstore, flower shop, and a café. There’s a beautiful park and stalls where people sell things, and there are a lot of places to go. While there wasn’t any sea shown in the trailer, the description does highlight that it is a seaside town.
The town feels alive and seems like it goes on independent of what the player does, which means there’s been a lot of work on the town itself.A town feeling alive is what players hope for in games like this, especially for cozy games. That makes things feel more real, and is usually much easier for someone to immerse themselves in it. The game is arguably justStardew Valleyas an isometric magic school.

7Mopeds for Players To Ride
A Moped For Those Who Need To Make Deliveries
Players don’t have to ride on a broom if they don’t want to inWitchbrook. There is a moped that can be used to make deliveries. This seems exclusive for deliveries, but there are some scenes where the Moped is just idle on the side of the street. An idle moped means it can likely be grabbed and used if needed, and goes at a fast speed when compared to other cars on the road.
There is a witch broom for players to use, so it seems like the moped may need to compete with the brooms. It could also be thatwitch brooms are for long distances and a moped is used in the city. From what we can see, the witch broom is used to go over buildings while the moped is focused on the streets.

6Mundane Tasks for Witches
Sometimes A Bit of Reality Keeps Things Fresh
There are Witch tasks seen in the trailer forWitchbrook, which is a good change of pace for this kind of game.Witches needing to go about their days collecting things for potionsand to live tends to get overlooked in most magic games. The trailer shows the player having to refill a basket of spilled fruit and changing furniture.
There are market stalls in the town and the player travels in different areas like lakes and ponds, sothere are likely going to be chores where witches need to get their own ingredients. This is a good way to make a money-sink in a game, and to keep players engaged because they have to keep doing things, so I’ve got no doubt that regular witch tasks will be a part of the game.

5The Detailed Pixel Art Looks Great
This Has Some Beautiful Artwork
Indie art has become a lot more varied as time has gone on, butWitchbrook’sartstyle is still a refreshing take on pixel design. The characters look very detailed while still having a comfortable and cozy pixel look. The camera is also angled so it’s not a plain 2d background that players walk on. It looks excellent when done here because these details make them better than regular pixel games.
Chucklefish’s Magical Simulation Game Witchbrook Isn’t Dead
The magical simulation game teased by Chucklefish finally has a Steam page and updated images, giving players hope for a future release date.
The trailer didn’t show anyone talking, but this may have been a way to keep players focused on the gameplay itself instead of the story or lore.It looks beautiful and was worth all the timethe team put into the artwork. Based on what is shown, this is likely going to be acozy pixel game you should playif you loveStardew Valley.

4Witchbrooke College Has Been Revealed
It’s A Pretty Big School For Players To Explore
The college inWitchbrookseems smaller on the inside than I expected. I expected the size of Hogwarts, but it seems more intimate and manageable. This should have been obvious because it’s an indie game, so it wouldn’t be something to rival a huge studio. From what the trailer shows, the college has many rooms, and is wide instead of tall.It looks like there are at least two floors, but there could be stairs leading down that the trailer didn’t show.
The trailer goes back and forth, but it seems like the school has classrooms dedicated to certain subjects and many other students hang out there. There are likely no separate houses to be sorted into, as the common room seems to be shared by everyone who attends the school. However,it feels well-designed because it’s not plain, and there are multiple stairs to lead to different areas and levels.

3A Dragon Egg To Hatch In A Home
Any Amount of Dragons Is Welcome
One thing that stood out to me inWitchbrookwasa dragon in the home of what appeared to be a very rich man. The house is very big, and the man is dressed in a great-looking suit, so the dragon could just be something rich people own. The dragon was red and its legs and head were coming out of a shell it might have just hatched from.
There are no other instances of dragons, so this seems like it’s too significant to just leave as is. I would highly doubt that the player could have and train a dragon in this game, and that this could just be one instance of a mission. It is crying, which makes me feel like that is an animation to make the player want to interact with it.

2The Expected Customization Options
Change Your Clothing, Hair, And More
One detail that could be overlooked in theWitchbrooktrailer is that the protagonist seems to look different in many scenes. Thecharacter has different hairstyles, body types, and clothes, so there is clearly customization here. I would imagine that this customization is done before the game begins, but it could also be a witch spell that lets players change parts of themselves.
Games That Let You Play As A Cute Witch
There are plenty of indie life and farming simulators, including these, all of which let players take on the role of a cute, wholesome witch.
From what I can see,the customization covers body, color, clothing, hats, and shoes. So each player should look completely unique in each playthrough, similar to other games with the pixel style likeTerrariaandStardewValley. However, the amount of customization may change as the game gets closer to release. This is just what I can surmise from the trailer.

1There Are A Variety of Activities
There’s So Much Room For Activities
There is more toWitchbrookthan just attending the school. The trailer shows playerseating donuts, delivering packages, and going through fields of wheat. The town itself seems to be the main focus of the game, and so there are a lot of things to do in the town. A good example of this is when, in one scene, the player is walking around what appears to be a fair, eating ice cream.
Cozy game lovers will likely be very excited by how much freedom there is to just live life inside a town. While there are plenty of witch-related activities, like performing a spell on a water fountain, there seem to be regular activities that a non-magic user would do.Witchbrookseems like a good cozy game that lets players experience life in the town.
