Swords are a favorite weapon within theLegend of Zeldauniverse, and that’s no different inTears of the Kingdom. While there are several other weapons, many players stick with swords due to their power and durability. Longtime fans of Zelda also know thatthe Master Sword has been a constant within the Zelda universe, first appearing inThe Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Pastin 1991. So, not only are swords powerful weapons, but they also tie into Zelda’s long history as a significant plot point.
InTears of the Kingdom, several swords are available for players to find, collect, and wield in battle, including both one-handed and two-handed, or heavy, weapons. Some swords are common with low attack power and durability, while others are harder to come by but are stronger in both attack and strength. Swords inTotKcan also befused with materialsthat increase their damage and durability, so even the weakest sword has the potential to be great. However, out of the heavy swords, which are the best on their own?

10Mighty Zonaite Longsword
Increase This Sword’s Attack Power With Zonai Fusions
Though it doesn’t have the greatest base attack power or durability, theMighty Zonaite Longswordcan still pack a powerful punch, especially whenfused with Zonai materials.Fusing this sword with Zonai resourcesincreases its attack power to take out enemies quickly. Plus, when fused with Zonai items like one of the Emitters, the Mighty Zonaite Longsword canblast flames, frost, electricity, or beamsat foes.
Amiibos have a chance of spawning chests that contain the Mighty Zonaite Longsword and other swords on this list.

This two-handed weapon can be found in a few places. First, the Mighty Zonaite Longsword can be purchased at theSmithing Construct in the Spirit Temple for 60 Zonaites. Otherwise, it can also be found in variouschests around Hyrule, including in Shrines, the Sky, and the Depths. 9Knight’s Claymore
Deal More Damage When Low On Health
TheKnight’s Claymoreis a decayed weapon, thoughthe pristine version can be foundwithin the Depths. Because it’s decayed, it doesn’t have the greatest attack power or durability. Still, this is a common heavy sword found throughoutTears of the Kingdomand is worth picking up and using early on. Thanks to its Special Effect, Desperate Strength, the sword can cause more damage when Link isdown to one heart or less.
You can pick up the Knight’s Claymore aroundHyrule Field and the Gerudo Desert. To increase its attack power and durability, fuse it with materials like the Gleeok Flame Horn or Shard of Naydra’s Spike, or head into the Depths to find the pristine version. The pristine version of the Knight’s Claymore has an attack power of 26 and a durability of 30, so a trip to the Depths might be worth it.

8Zora Longsword
A Sword That’s Great To Use Around Water
As its name suggests, theZora Longswordis a two-handed weapon often wielded by the Zora people and can be found within the Lanayru Great Spring location. It’s a great sword to have whenfighting around watersince its special effectincreases its attack power when wet. For even more damage, fuse it with water-based materials like Splash Fruit or Opal.
Using Sidon’s ability with the Zora Longsword equipped is a great combination.
While exploring the Zora region, I tend to keep the Zora Longsword equipped. Since the Zora region is surrounded by water, it allows me to quickly get my sword wet to increase my attack power when dealing with enemies. If that’s not enough for you, you can also find the pristine version down in the Depths, which has improved attack power and durability. Note that you won’t be able to find the pristine version of any weapon until you’ve used and broken the decayed version.

7Gerudo Claymore
Fused Materials Increase Attack But Decrease Durability
TheGerudo Claymoreis a powerful weapon with a starting attack power of 10 and durability of 14. The attack power increaseswhen fused with any fusible material, but the durability, unfortunately, doesn’t improve and instead worsens. Due to its low durability, it can break rather easily after some use. Fortunately, these swords are common throughout the Gerudo Desert and Gerudo Highlands, so finding another shouldn’t be an issue.
Again, you may find the pristine version with better stats in the Depths. Be careful not to be caught carrying this or any other metal weapon during thunderstorms. Metal weapons like the Gerudo Claymore conduct electricity and will cause you to getstruck by lightning. However, they come in handy when traveling through Scorching Climates.

6Eightfold Longblade
Deal Wind Slashes To Enemies With Wind Razor
TheEightfold Longbladeis a decent heavy sword to have in your collection inTears of the Kingdomand can be found in the Hyrule Ridge and Gerudo Highlands. It has good durability, but that’s not what makes this weapon worth having. The special effectWind Razordoes. The Eightfold Longblade is the only sword inTears of the Kingdomwith this special ability. When used,it creates wind slashes. Fusing elemental materials with this weapon makes it an even bigger powerhouse.
Personally, I enjoyfusing ice materialsso that I can freeze enemies before unleashing a series of attacks on them. Some of my favorite materials to fuse with the Eightfold Longblade include the Naydra’s Horn and Ice Fruit. Of course, you can also fuse other elemental materials to add fire or shock damage. Check out this weapon in action in the YouTube video fromDaring Falconsabove.

5Dusk Claymore
A Sword With High Durability
TheDusk Claymorelooks like it would be slender enough to be a one-handed weapon, but it is, in fact, a two-handed, heavy blade. Despite the heaviness of this sword, it packs quite the punch with a starting attack power of 32 and animpressive durability of 50. With its high durability, you’ll be using this sword for a long time.
Two-handed weapons are slow when attacking enemies and you won’t be able to use a shield simultaneously, so be careful in your fights.
The Dusk Claymore isn’t the easiest blade to find. You can obtain it as a reward for completing the side quest “Investigate the Thyphio Ruins” and by using aGanondorf amiibo figure. The last place you’ll find the Dusk Claymore is through theBargainer Statues in the Depths, where the sword costs 140 Poes.

4Royal Claymore
A Sword Fit For The Royal Family
TheRoyal Claymoresword belongs to the Royal Gear equipment and was used by the Guards of the Royal Family of Hyrule. Though once in pristine condition, it has now decayed and only has a starting attack power of 15 and a durability of 20. However, if you get your hands on the pristine version in the Depths, thenthose stats double to 36 and 40, respectively.
You can easily find the decayed version around the Great Plateau and Hyrule Castle, as demonstrated in the YouTube video fromGame8above. Whether you have the decayed or pristine Royal Claymore, you can still benefit from its special ability, Improved Flurry Rush. With Improved Flurry Rush, damage increases during the Flurry Rush attack. So, use this sword against enemies who you can easily dodge and attack to maximize this effect.

3Biggoron’s Sword
A Legendary Greatsword That’s Hard To Find
Biggoron’s Swordis one of the better swords inTears of the Kingdom, with a starting attack power of 36 and a durability of 60. It has a sharp blade ready to take down enemies. However, getting your hands on this legendary greatsword is difficult. You won’t find it commonly lying around in chests or used by the common enemy. Instead, you’llhave to explore the Depthsor scan the Young Link Super Smash Bros. amiibo.
What Poes Are For In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Poes are extremely common collectibles throughout TOTK’s Depths, but the game doesn’t explicitly state what players are supposed to use them for.
I didn’t have access to the correct amiibo, so I had to visit the Depths. It’s not too difficult to find once you know where to look. Head to the Skull Lake Chasm at coordinates 3249, 3443, -0065 and jump in. You’ll find theAkkala House of Bonesand several Stal enemies guarding a chestsurrounded by a red aura. Defeat the enemies and the red aura will disappear. Open the chest and obtain Biggoron’s Sword. The final place you’re able to get this sword is through the Bargainer Statues in exchange for 150 Poes.

2Royal Guard’s Claymore
Low Durability But High Attack Power Sword
Another heavy sword you should have in your collection at some point inTears of the Kingdomis theRoyal Guard’s Claymore. Although it’s listed as number two on our list, you can surprisingly find this sword early on. All you have to do isexplore Hyrule Castle. With a base attack of 32, it’s effective against enemies, but it has a lower durability of 11, which meansit breaks easily. Unless, of course, you find thepristine version in the Depths.
The Royal Guard’s Claymore has a special effect called Breaking Point. Breaking Pointcauses more damage to enemies when the weapon is about to break. With such limited durability, you may use this special effect to your advantage quite often.

1Fierce Deity Sword
Best Heavy Sword In TotK
With a starting attack power of 40 and a durability of 35, you can bet that theFierce Deity Swordis one of the best swords to have in your fight to save Hyrule inTears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, it’s another sword that you won’t just find lying around. However, it’s worth the effort to obtain, as you can see in the video fromJoWolfabove.
To get this sword, you’ll need to complete the “Misko’s Treasure: The Fierce Deity” quest to receive theFierce Deity Armor Set. With thefull armor set equipped, head to the cave north of the Foothill Stable. Enter the cave, and a door will open, revealing a chest. Open the chest, and you’ll receive the Fierce Deity Sword. you’re able to also scan the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo or visit the Bargainer Statues in the Depths and exchange 160 Poes to get the sword.
