10 Funniest Moments From Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc

Though there are only very small windows of comic relief in Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc, they are hilarious nonetheless.

10The Insect Hashira’s Kindness

Demon SlayerSeason 4, Episode 2

In the post-credits' scene, Kocho Shinobu scolds a remorseful and kneeling Inosuke for breaking in by crashing the window. Shinobu tells Inosuke that even if his positiveness is one of the good parts about him, there are still things that he shouldn’t do, and then proceeds to treat the cut that he got from the broken glass. This surprises Inosuke, who is moved by Shinobu’s treatment.

This is acknowledged by Tanjiro, who highlights how Shinobu acts strict most of the time but has a compassionate and kind personality. He also mentions how Shinobu gave Mitsuri a handkerchief to dry her sweat after feeling embarrassed during the Hashira Meeting. This scene displays part of the Insect Hashira’s true self, as even if it were revealed that her bright and cheerful demeanor is a mask to hide the hatred she feels towards demons, she is still someone who likes to care for others.

9The Flame Hashira Students Run Away from Him

Demon SlayerSeason 2, Episode 2

A tsuguko is the disciple of a hashira to whom he passes his breathing style and techniques. In the Taisho Secret,Tanjiro reveals that Kyojuro Rengoku doesn’t have any students preparing to be his tsugukodue to his rigorous and demanding training, which causes anyone who attempts it to eventually run away. Rengoku’s intense training regimen is due to his overly enthusiastic personality, unwavering dedication, and strict discipline to become stronger, which he projects in his disciples, pushing them until they reach their limits.

Rengoku’s previous Tsuguko, who completed his training and passed the Final Selection in only six months, was the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, but she didn’t remain as his successor because she created her own breathing style. Also, Rengoku’s brother Senjuro isn’t a talented swordsman; that’s why he invited Tanjiro to be his tsuguko, which unfortunately wasn’t possible, but given Tanjiro’s determination, he wouldn’t have run away like his previous disciples.

In the episode, it is shown thatZenitsu had great musical ability due to his good hearingand perfect pitch, being able to replicate any tune he hears on the shamisen and koto, Japanese string instruments, after listening only once.

In the post-credits scene, Tanjiro revealed that Zenitsu really likes the shamisen, and he has a remarkable talent for playing it. Zenitsu is glad to be praised and excitedly states he should strive to become the oiran of Yoshigawara; however, Tanjiro brings him back to reality by showing him his reflection in the mirror. Zenitsu faints after seeing his unsightly face, which surely explained to him why he was the only one of the trio who wasn’t hired.

6How the Sound Hashira Finds His Inner Flashiness

Demon SlayerSeason 2, Episode 8

In the first episode of the Entertainment District Arc, the Sound Hashira Uzui Tengen asked Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke to introduce themselves, but they, instead of sharing their fighting abilities, proceeded to name their favorite foods, prompting Tengen to get angry at them. Tengen tells them they should get ready to face the powerful demons in Yoshigawara, at which Zenitsu starts yelling, and he has to be tied up and hanged like a cocoon.

Tengen’s Taisho Secret revealed he was raised in a Shinobi clan and lived a rather inconspicuous and unflashy life in the shadows, but after leaving his village, this built-up resentment reached its breaking point, and his personality and demeanor made a striking shift, showcasing his true flamboyant nature, a statement that caused disbelief among the group. 5The Reason Behind Urokodaki’s Mask

Demon SlayerSeason 1, Episode 3

Sakonji Urokodaki was Tanjiro’s cultivator and former water hashira, who always hid his face behind a Tengu mask. The reason why he uses a mask was revealed by Tanjiro in the Taisho Era Secret, which was due to Urokodaki being mocked by a demon about his gentle face. While being underestimated by demons isn’t something bad, as a warrior, it makes sense for him to try to conceal his expression behind an angry red mask and appear more threatening.Urokodaki’s face was revealed in theDemon Slayerexhibition, confirming he has a kindhearted expression that doesn’t fit an intimidating swordsman.

Additionally, the masks seem to mean a lot to Urokodaki, since he gave a warding mask to Tanjiro as a protective amulet before going to the final selection. Urokodaki’s kind face showcases his caring nature, because despite being shown as a harsh trainer, he cares deeply about his disciples, as proved by how he didn’t want Tanjiro to die like his previous students. Urokodaki shows his sweet side in how he cries and embraces Tanjiro after he returns and in how he accepts the Kamado siblings and is willing to commit seppuku if Nezuko ever ate someone.

4Introducing the Flame Hashira

Demon SlayerSeason 2, Episode 1

The different opinions about Rengoku come from theDemon Slayerfanbook that explained the relationships among the hashira. The fact that none had anything negative to say about Rengoku shows how much he is respected, confirming he is a really likable person.

This is due to Rengoku being the most straightforward among the hashira, and his strong spirit and honesty are appreciated by others. The scene serves to highlight Rengoku’s character before being introduced to Tanjiro and his friends, as he isn’t only one ofthe strongest demon slayers, but someone whose passion and positiveness influence others in the story.

3Tanjiro’s Horrible Nightmare

Demon SlayerSeason 2, Episode 5

This post-credit scene didn’t feature a Taisho secret and instead adapted an extra page of theDemon Slayermanga to celebrate the New Year, featuring a 4-koma gag special named Reliable First Dream. In his first dream of the year, Tanjiro is on a snowy mountain looking for Nezuko when she appears in enormous muscular form, with a marked cleft chin, telling him that she will protect him while flexing her giant muscles.

Tanjiro wakes up from his sleep screaming and is comforted to find the real Nezuko, just as adorable as always. Tanjiro recalls his nightmare, horrified while rubbing Nezuko’s chin and relieved that she doesn’t look that way. It’s said that the first dream foretells one’s luck for the rest of the year, so Tanjiro most likely hopes that if Nezuko will protect him, she does it in her cute form.

1The Emotional Homage to Rengoku

Demon SlayerSeason 4, Episode 8

During theHashira Training Arc, every post-credits scene featured a different hashira, and, for the last episode, Tanjiro presents Mitsuri and says she was Rengoku’s tsuguko. Mitsuri said they should also introduce Rengoku, and she stated that he was a great big brother who taught her many things and liked to eat, and she shared that the memory of them eating together a large pot of rice is something precious for her.

The voice of Rengoku is suddenly heard, who also remembers the moment, which shocks Tanjiro and Mitsuri.
