This review was originally published on August 15, 2025, as a part of ourToronto International Film Festivalcoverage. Emilia Pérezis a film that defies classification. It is, all at once, a narcocrime saga, a melodrama, and a pop opera tackling themes of identity, redemption, and evolution. It’s wrapped in over-the-top musical theatrics, too, with the movie beginning with Zoe Saldaña’s under-appreciated lawyer Rita performing a song about a murder case in the neon-lit streets of Mexico....

Joe Russo provides a key update onExtraction 3. The Netflix actionseries launched in 2020, chronicling the story of mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) who has to go on an incredibly deadly extraction mission. Both films are directed by Sam Hargrave and feature screenplays and stories by Anthony and Joe Russo, more famously known as the Russo Brothers. Since the release of last year’s installment,Extraction 3was announcedto be in talks. Mavuika was shown as an authority figure within Natlan in the character teaser trailer, though there are rumors that she is actually protecting or hiding the true Pyro Archon, who may have not been revealed among the cast of thenew Natlan characters inGenshin Impact....

Though Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto remasters haven’t exactly been a hit these last few years (cut contentdoesn’t help), each one is nonetheless cause for excitement, because, after all, it’s Grand Theft Auto. Unfortunately, the excitement for theGrand Theft Auto 5: Enhancedrelease has been dampened some by crashing, and an inability to launch the game. It’s important for theDCU’s rendition of Batman to stand out from the other Dark Knight movies, and I think I’ve worked out the perfect way for DC to achieve this withThe Brave and theBoldwhile remaining comic-accurate. While the DCU will soon kick off in earnest with Superman in his self-titled debut on July 11, very little has been revealed about when Batman will be joining the ranks of the DUC’s superheroes....

It’s high time the show brought Bumpy back into the picture, especially afterJurassic World: Chaos Theoryseason 3’s ending....

The Isekai genre has become one of the most popular in anime in recent years, withsome of the best contemporary shows following these tropes. This is understandable, as most anime fans dream of having an adventure in another world like their favorite characters. Yet, when looking closely at the genre, its true king becomes apparent, and it has been around for more than two decades:Digimon Adventure. This iconic 90s anime is by farone of the best depictions of the isekai trope, coming many years before the term and the genre were popularized, and having a complete story that is not afraid to take risks, endearing characters who are outstandingly well-developed, and an intriguing world that anyone would love to explore....
